Thanks for providng this survey. It was a means to discover something about internet research that I did not value.

Without blogging just now, I would not know the extent that Turkey blocks internet access. Nor would I have learned of ways people of Turkey can participate in legal ways to urge their government to change its policy.

The policy, (as I just learned by Googling: Google censorship and Turkey just now using a secure offsite legally provided server) is one of "permission in" and not rejection after review. This policy was put into place this past June. It has a huge impact to Turkey's citizenry for it means sites must be individually reviewed by who?? in order for its citizens to view the site. That explains why Google sites, YouTube and thousands of other sites (6000 as of Jan 2010) show an error message of "check back later". This message misleads the reader to believe that inaccessibility is due to operator/server error and not govt censorship.
