There are many big study funded by Big Pharma that are failed (SEAS, PROVE-IT, ELITE II, AURORA, 4D, GISSI HF, GISSI AF, ENHANCE, EARLY ACS, PRoFESS, TRANSCEND, ONTARGET, ecc. ecc. ecc. ecc.) and the conflict of interest did not hide anything.

Following the brief discussion on Radio 4's Today programme about this where the comment was made that 'Doctors are quite capable of understanding the research for themselves' was the news item that '1 in 4 prescriptions written by doctors are incorrect - but most mistakes are picked up by nurses or pharmacists'. I rest my case!

In fairness, most research is dense and difficult to understand by all but other researchers. That is why we are continually shutting stable doors - and rather than looking to see why it was left open in the first place just up sticks and move to another stable. Maybe we are about to clean out the stable and put a substantial bolt on the drugs dynasty stable door. I do hope so.

Why do drug companies produce drugs? Is it for the good of mankind?

Your answer to this will also answer the question of whether a conflict of interest arises.
