I believe if you get married before you're 30, you're crazy. If I would have married that young, it would not have lasted. You are such a completely different person than you were in your 20's! I'm not saying that everyone that marries before 30 is doomed to failure but when I look back at my 20's, I'm definately NOT the same person. My beliefs were different, my outlook on life was different...I just think you don't really learn who YOU are until you hit 29 or 30..sometimes older.

I think it has a lot to do with maturity. If you are very mature in your 20s and can handle what married life throws at you, go for it. However, most people who get married too young miss out on playing the field and that has led some to have a wandering eye (and more...) later on in thier marriage. You need to get it out of your system before you settle down with one person. I think that you need more experience in LIFE to know who you are and who you are compatible with for the long haul. I really like what Mary Beth wrote, that's great advice! BTW- I'm 34, SINGLE, AND LOVING IT! If I ever get married, he'll be an independent soul like me!

I think it varies from person to person. I got married at 19, my husband was 21. I wouldn't tell most 19 year olds to do the same, but after 2.5 years, I've always been confident in my marriage. I've never regretted it and don't feel like I missed out on anything. I don't think a lot of marriages beginning at age 19 would work out, but I don't think my husband and I are honestly like most people our age. If we can make it through a deployment(military,) I'm sure we're in for the long haul.

Personally, I got married when I was 21 and I think I was far too young! I never got the chance to do some of the fun single things and I regret that. However, I don't regret marrying my husband because he is the best thing that's ever happened to me :)
Last week someone said to me- you either marry young and have energy or you marry older and have wisdom. Wisdom about who you are and who you want in to be a part of you whole life, wisdom to share with your kids or the energy that everyone so often complains of not having, example running around to keep up with your 3 year old. I think wisdom has more long lasting qualitative effects. Although I'm 28 and I can't say I'm not jealous of my married friends but I've also seen some pretty incredible marriages/relationships post 30 years old.
Don't want to get married to young. I know people who don't have stories that begine with "I got thrown out of there once because......" and I feel sorry that they can't say that! I sure can!
For me it's between 25 and 29
