But I think that most people really miss the point of what has happened in this country. Our system would work fine if lobbyists weren't allowed to influnece the decisions that OUR elected representatives make. The way things work now is that politicians at all levels of government say what they think WE want to hear (for the most part) until they get into office, lobbyists basically buy the votes of said politicians to get them to vote for whatever legislation (or a lack thereof) that will benefit the group, association, firm or corporate interests the lobbyists work for, and afterwards the politicians cover their tracks in bullshit a mile deep, and no one seems to care. Something must be done to prevent their lobbying power from corrupting the system, a completely different take on systemic risk.

I don't think the Tea Party has anything to do with being fed up and not being heard by both parties... when was the last time they carried signs comparing anyone to do with the GOP with Hitler, Stalin, etc? The answer is... never.
They do not protest against GOP Representatives, they do not yell about the Minority Party Whip, Leader, etc. They do not protest against anything to do with the GOP political agenda or philosophy. Therefore, they are not against both parties, or against not being heard by their representatives, or "fed up" with "business as usual" in Washington. They portey themselves as such, but their actions speak volumes as to their real, true agenda.

You ask on ECF, which is a bunch of right wingers who hate the government, not sure what kind of response you're expecting! I went for option 3, it's a bunch of intellectually dim people being riled up by Glenn Beck, a moron who's bought & paid for by big business.

Yes the American people are tired of the Ole' Boys Club -- pork barrelling went out along time ago. We want to pay for the services we get that are necessary. A grass roots movement can change this system, and if it's not the Tea Party (silly name by the way) then it will be something else soon.

People are tired of being ignored. People who never involved themselves in politics are coming out of the woodwork to be heard. I believe they are tired of two parties and want change.

Regardless of one's politics, the tea party movement has the right to do what they are doing. If you're for it, then join them. If not, then start an anti-tea party movement. This is how things are done in America.
