Did everyone that voted for the switch back actually try Unity? I downloaded the 11.04 beta today so am keen to give it a whirl.
The point I want to make is as long as it is very clear on the logon screen how to either use the new or the 'traditional' desktop then even complete newbies will not be completely foxed by Unity teething issues.
It might not be a good idea to allow a combination of Unity and automatic passwordless login? A novice user could get well and truly stuck then with a negative experience of Linux to take away with them.
