I recently just changed my major. I was a biochemistry and molecular biology and now I am social work. I had this whole plan to go to apply for this government program where you go and work as a general practitioner in an impoverished area for 2 to 3 years and then they pay for your med school. Then I would go to med school and become a general practitioner and one day open a clinic for low/no income and uninsured people. Yeah, big dreams. I realized that wasn't what I am supposed to do. Now I'm a social work major and I've never been more excited for the future. My passion is people and helping them in any possible way that I can. I just want to make people's lives better. So, social work is perfect. It's okay to change your major...it just takes a while to find what is meant to be.

I chose my original major, applied math, because I was good at math in high school and always enjoyed it. When I took an econ class (for the applied aspect of the math major), I realized I loved the material more than I ever enjoyed math, so I switched to economics. So yeah, I chose it because I'm passionate. I'm also double majoring with German, since I studied in Berlin last year. That major is more because I only needed a couple more classes when I got back, though, so although I love the language, it was more because I thought it would be easy. :P

Ever since kindergarten I had wanted to be a nurse but once I got to 8th grade I wanted to go into a different direction. Since design video games was out of the question at the point I decided to go into something that could lead me there; illustrations and design. Its and I get to be creative.

I originally chose a major that would guarantee me a job after graduating and a large salary throughout my life. But I soon realized those classes weren't fun for me, I didn't enjoy the homework, and going to class was a chore. So I switched to something I've always loved, and it is easily the best decision I've ever made. I lost scholarships and I don't have job security, but I love what I'm doing in school and every time I talked to alumni who graduated with my major, I'm inspired and excited for the years to come.

To be honest, I chose mine cause I didn't want to be a General Major right off the bat in College, and it sounded like the only interesting thing they had at my community college. And it was for me, and I like it enough to stick it through.

Pick a major that you are good at and enjoy. If u can wake up and want to go to work, you did the right thing.

I choose my major because of the events and experience I have went through. I went with what I would love and what would truest make me happy. Money is never the key to happiness.
