Wow, you guys act as if you just found out your wife cheated on you or something. Relax. I'm ashamed of all you fair weather fans.

Mike will do great. You guys will be singing his praises by January and especially June.

Dwight isn't going anywhere either. The lakers bring you Dwight and Nash for Bynum and you guys want to talk about how the franchise is ruined?!?!

You guys have no idea how good we have it. Sit back and just enjoy the show.

Well let's see, picking a guy with no championships on his resume who likes to coach teams to run up and down the court and shoot in 7 seconds or less and plays no defense what so ever. Well all I can say is how short a leash will dantoni be under I predict by christmas Phil jackson will be coaching the lakers, dantoni will have 10 games and will be 1 and 9 under D'antoni, buss and kupchak will be tripping over each other trying to get to the bat phone first to make the call, might be time to start looking at becoming a clippers fan..........

Little JimmyBuss is just paying The Master back in his trademark pussy willow way for porking his sister all these years.

  • Mike Berny - 11 years ago

Simply put we will never really know why they switched gears at the last moment. Jimmy B is classless and unfortunately Kupchak is a puppet. Jimmy does not have a basketball mind. Kupchak was a student of Jerry West and thing began to un-ravel when Jimmy took over for daddy. Where is the Laker patience and class. It starts at the top and Jimmy has zero. Why go the trouble of reaching out to PJ only to lie and pull the rug out from underneath him? Because Jimmy is classless.

Phil would be perfect for the Clippers, come on Phil come over to the right side.

Fans forget that PJ wasn't the defense coach for the Lakers... His assistants were.. Fans also forget that the assistant coaches were responsible for all the scouting and game plans... PJ was a good delegator and got out coached and swept by Dallas in his last year here. MD will do a great job and hire a defensive coach say Nate McMillan just like PJ did with his assistants. The Lakers will be fine. MD has never had this much talent to work with.. Chill LA fans.

Come on board the clipper bandwagon! You can actually afford to take your kids to a game.

  • LAMel - 11 years ago

Can't believe they would hire a coach with such a bad record. Mike D isn't a bad coach but his stats don't compare to PJs...

Let Phil Jackson and his stoopid boring unimaginative triangle schmiangle RIP already. The only reasons he won were MJ, Pippen, Shaq, Kobe, Gasol etc... all his system was, was about letting the superstars play iso. BFD!

Phil is WAY past his prime also. Haven't people already forgotten how lousy he was the last year he was with LAL and got outcoached and swept in humiliation by Dallas. Good riddance!

I'm so glad Jim Buss does not like him that much either!

Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak are destroying the Lakers S we know them. Jim for making terrible decisions. And Mitch for having the worse bench on the NBA

  • Juan - 11 years ago

Jim Buss doesn't care about the fans... Hes stubborn and can't even be around to be blamed for the stupid coachs hes put in.... Brown and tomjonovich... Bring in someone who will actually care... Bring in Jeannie

Pj is the best coach, but hewanted10 million per season,on top of the 100 million in payroll, plus luxury tax.i also think that the personnel of the lakers is not right for the, triangle.pj also wanted to coach only home games, and have a lot of control that Jerry was not willing to strip from his kids

  • Ron - 11 years ago

Jim( clueless) buss probably voted for Obama to. can't fix stupid !!!!!

  • Hector Garay - 11 years ago

Should of hired Phil ive been a fan since the showtime era.Not only are the Lakers going to loose this year but a large fan base where they cnt see home games on cable cause the cable provider (time warner) isn't available everywhere. Frustruated Laker Fan:(

  • big dave - 11 years ago

UNBELIEVABLE, JIM BLUNDER HAS HIS IMPRINT ON THIS MESSED UP SITUATION I HAVE STRUGGLED THIS YEAR BUT NOW I WILL JUST NOT HAVE THE INTEREST AND NOW I POSITIVE THAT HOWARD WILL LEAVE THE LAKERS AFTER THIS YEAR AND TO JERRY MESSED UP TOO GET HANDLE ON THIS STOP DATING GIRLS OLD ENOUGH TO BE YOUR GRAND CHILDEREN , SORRY KOBE GOING OUT LIKE THIS NOW. TIME WARNER VIEWERS THIS TEAM WILL NOW STRUGGLE AS CLIPPERS AND THE THUNDER, HEAT, AND BOSTON CELEBRATE TODAY AND LAUGH AT US NOW. THIS SUCKS BIGTIME NOT THE SAME 24HRS IT ALL WENT TO CRAP.

I am a big time lakers fan I have also always respected what Steve Nash and mike dAntoni were able to do in Phoenix and new York. DAntoni was the coach behind linsanity.
If Steve Nash is not ready to retire the. This is the right move to take advantage of his tremendous talent. Gasol, Howard Steve Blake , meeks Hill, and Darius m should also shine with DAntoni. Kobe could shine on the triangle and princeton systems but this team is built to run.

When you look at the list of names, the only one the Lakers couldn't Fire was PJ. Phil is un-fireable, maybe that's why he didn't get hired.

  • Wee1zy - 11 years ago

Phil is the right choice he has a nack for the game and overall a legend.

  • hvybass - 11 years ago

Bottom line is that phil jackson is a proven winner...there was no truth about him not going on road trips...it simply boils down to this the front office didnt want to give him more power in in picking personel..and if jim buss is getting more control in making these decisions(coaching) based on personal relationships then it simply stands to reason why di'antoni got the nod...the big question is this ..why would you go with a coach that has never won for a coach who has a proven track record...to a man all the players wanted phil...sheesh..

  • linda - 11 years ago

You have GOT TO BE KIDDING!!! Buss needs to GO someplace else in the organization where he can't make anymore WRONG decisions.

  • realitybytes - 11 years ago

Great year to be a Clipper fan!

  • Gary - 11 years ago

If we couldn't g et PJ, Brian Shaw should have gotten very strong considerations. Mike D'Antoni doesn't know how to coach defense and the team is too old to try to play the run and gun type offense that D'Antoni likes. Not only will we not make it to the finals, we're gonna lose D12 to Dallas next season because Jim Buss hates Phil Jackson.

  • jrbcpm - 11 years ago

I would have considered Larry Brown. After all he improved every team he coached. He even got the Clippers into the playoffs! D'Antoni's issue is defense. All of his teams have been below average defensively.

Jackson is by far the best coach available but he wanted too much to be a part time coach. If the team improves defensively D'Antoni will be successful. If not, he will get fired like Brown.

Mike Brown was the wrong guy from the start

  • Hok88 - 11 years ago

The Lakers wanted Phil but look like he demanded too much. If you can't coach on the road then its not very helpful to the team. Coach Mike D is the next best coach available, like the management said. Hopefully Coach D will be smarter then Coach Mike Brown in using the players talent, only sticking to system at crunch time, not every seconds. Coach D never coach a talented group like the Lakers. If he can maximize their talents then he will win his 1st trophy.
    Go Lakers!

Jim BlunderBuss strikes again. I am resigning as a Lakers fan. Time Warner must be livid....as are more than 60% of (former) fans. I grieve for the last years of Kobe's career and for the last and only year of DHs Laker affiliation.
