I don't like the names Kulu and Madoa, but the cubs should have African names. When the pandas were named they chose Asian names to reflect their Chinese origins. The same practice should extend to the cubs.l

I am sending in my Vote for my Choice, They are both born in Maryland, and although they are from A Africa, I like a colorful name for them both, nothing too serious, something that Kids will like, I like Tom and Jerry, and or Bennie and Cecil or Marge and Mike, what ever, so as long s they are liked by Kids , Adults everyone, is okay with me..

Don't think much of the name choices. I voted for the African names even though I'm not thrilled with their meanings. Vote for Kulu and Madoa!
I am sorry I am not going to vote for Huge and Spotty. I don't care if they were native to Africa, they are American Marylanders and their names should reflect that.

Please please please DO NOT name these cubs after a Star Wars movie! They are of African heritage and have earned the right to African names. Kulu and Madoa are STRONG fierce names, names that belong to lion cubs; not cutesie Luke and Leia!
Honor their heritage and call them by African names, Kulu and Madea or Simba and Nala. With the passing of nelson mandela, it is even more appropriate to honor their origin.I love Simpsons and Star Wars but they have nothing to do with the heritage and backgrounds of our little lion cubs.

I voted for Luke and Leia. I was just reminded today of a local family who lost two of their four daughters (plus all 4 of their pets, their entire home, and all their possessions) in a house fire in February. The oldest daughter/sister, who suffered burns and smoke inhalation in addition to all her losses, is obviously still struggling. But the family is resilient and working through the best they can. She is also a huge Star Wars fan! I highly recommend choosing Luke and Leia AND connecting with the Lillard family and helping them have more happy memories. In memory of Sophie and Madigan and in honor of Morgan, Sadie, and, new brother, Mason.
I was thinking the names of the cubs should be - Oriole & Raven, keeping in tune with our sports. I did not know that we were past the time to enter names. I am sorry I missed the deadline. I think the cubs are so adorable, you just feel that you could cuddle with them. They re so playful.

I thought you could submit names. Mine are Mischka (little tiger or little bear) and Meeko (beautiful eyes).
I, too, thought a name for each was to be submitted. I would have entered Nick & Nellie, or Nick & Stella - simply basic names and easy to pronounce.

Since the lions are from Africa(not space!), why not honor them with African names so Kulu and Madea make more sense. We could also honor Nelson Mandela by calling them Madiba and Mandela!

I am suggesting the names "Nelson" and "Mandella" in respect to one of the greatest leaders of men of whom was memorialized by world leaders today. These cubs can be a living memorial, here in Baltimroe to be cherished and proud of in honor of the late Nelson Mandella.
I think that they should of haved more options or you were allowed to pick anything I picked bart and maggie because lions are tough and in the simpsins bart and maggie are tough to. They should bring the zoo keeepers with the lions to a talk show so if you want to see them you might be able to go to the talk show and see them. I think that they should of also let the news

I am not sure why the choices are so limited - I know on Facebook I saw many different suggestions. I voted for Luke and Leia only because I liked it best out of my choices given, but I would have looked for something better. Even Simba and Nala seemed more fitting than the Star Wars reference! That seems so outdated at the moment. Jaime and Cersei from Game of Thrones would have been more current. What about something Baltimore related? Again, I would like to have had more choices...

I know I didn't vote in the original contest but I think the male lion should be named Leonardo and the female should be Leona. Just my two cents worth. None of the choices to vote for do not seem appropriate for lions.
