What would you do with the $3.2 billion heading for state coffers from the PNB Paribus bank fine?

It would be fiscally imprudent to deposit funds "from this one-time settlement" into the State's General Fund to be spent on re-occurring expenses. Assemblyman Abinati is correct ,these funds should be applied toward the Tappan Zee Bridge to limit the amount borrowed or better yet put these funds toward a mass transit rail solution linking Rockland,Orange,Sullivan & Ulster counties to New York City thus developing an economic corridor linking upstate and downstate. This will creat jobs, what a way to leverage this windfall. This is the type of leadership New York needs in a Governor ,not the bantering to placate special interest groups seeking to subsidize municipal and educational entities. Those funds should be derived by "cleaning up" the waste and abuse in state operations including social service programs.

The Paribus bank fine is the result of corporate greed, which means ordinary people were hurt in the first place. If these billions are not spent on helping ordinary New Yorkers, then the wound will be twice as deep. Dedicate this money to deficit reduction, to job creation, to remedial education and intensive instruction, to infrastructure repair. Do not allow the Legislature and the governor to fund special interests. Do not spend these billions in tax relief. Instead, shore up and rebuild New York and help the people. How ironic it would be if this fine, levied against a greed factory, would itself be spent in greed.
