    Total phone bans is not a good idea, use should be restricted by the driver. Use a little common sense don't use your phone period in rush hour traffic that is very busy. The idea that one would have to pull off the road or similar actions to make a phone call is not good. I know that mobile phones are a relatively new phenomenon, and we didn't have to worry about such before. There are a lot of things that can distract a driver, I had an accident when I was younger when I was reaching to the passenger side of the car to pick up an item off the floor. Changing the radio station--or with the modern radios, accidentally changing your pusbutton saved station is frustrating and distracting, eating and drinking (non-alcoholic beverage, of course), arguing with your wife or husband, or the kids are all distractions
