Ya' know there's not a whole lot over there that most of the people that live in that area can afford, so who cares what goes on over there ?

Unfortunately the northside has been on a steady decline since the north town closing years ago. Driving east to west on Kearney one sees so many vacant buildings mainly dining facilities. I would love to see some attention pId to this end of town, an awakening of sorts. We definitely need more retail back and fill these vacant buildings w restaraunts once again

If the northside would get retail and restaurants that aren't available on the southside perhaps more people would travel north just like the northside has to travel south.

    More retail AND more restaurants.

North Springfield needs RETAIL!!! It is pathetic that a city Springfield's size only has one shopping area. Joplin has almost all the same stores that Springfield has and they're MSA is less than half of Springfield's size. The city does not know how to utilize our main economic contributor (I-44) to its fullest potential. Remember there used to be a Mall on the Northside! Not only that but north Springfield has grown a lot since the North Town Mall closed. So lets get this right... more people less retial?! Hmmmm.... Sell the Payne Stewart Golf course (keep the par 3 course) to a developer that can bring another Target, Kohls, Gordmans, TJ Maxx, etc. to Springfield! Not only would they be able to locate the golf course to a better suited location, it would be almost paid for by the sale of this property. But then again we are in Springfield...

We need a nice grocery store like HyVee in the Glenstone & I-44 area.

A good friend and her family recently passed through on I-44 en route to Chicago. They wanted to stop for lunch and wanted to know where to eat in Springfield. They don't do fast food and avoid chain restaurants. Unfortunately I had few recommendations for them near I-44. So yes, more good restaurants are needed for those who are just passing through and those who stay at north side motels.
