I'm surprised the responses are so low. Most employers have close to 10 paid holidays, which would over 60% of readers (n=390 responses) take only 10 vacation days or less. Maybe the question wasn't meant to include holidays?

Agree with Mak and PFS, although most may have a number of days away from the office, few can be fully enjoyed as we are trained to be tethered and we are often pulled into 'must-do-now' situations. I've been trying to break some of the cycle.

I am very fortunate to be able to take over 40 days away from work but am rarely unplugged.

A f/u question would be of those paid days off how many of us are still looking/sending/replying to emails? Unfortunately for me too many.
