And you must be the leader of the ignorant , islander2. You talk about the explosion like you know what happened. No one said it was a small problem. That comment sir, was all you . So let's stick to what the poll is asking and what we know from where we are vs. Where we were at before. I have confidence in GPA for two reasons... the first being that my power is still on despite the loss of the base loads, compared to before when brown outs and rolling blackouts were normal. And second, GPA has come a long way since then, especially considering the base rate of 13 cents per kw has been the rate for over 50 years. That means 13 cents per kw has been all GPA has been taking from us to operate and maintain, so I don't know where you're seeing any pockets being filled while being way more reliable since 20 years ago, while maintaining the same base rate. So, even with inflation ,the general increase in the prices of equipment and all the advances in technology , GPA is still keeping the lights on, working with what they have. All that at 13 cents a kw. That's impressive.

The damage the explosion caused was too extreme to be thinking it will be up and running , it's more like reconstruct and purchase new generators etc.. Naive to think its a small problem , preventative maintenance is probably at fault as it is lacking in all Gov Guam agencies .
The only good preventative maintenance program Gov Guam has perfected is making sure their pockets are always full .

its like the blind leading the blind with Ryan in front .

The problem which caused the explosion/fire may have been the same as the problem which happened on Cabras 3 in 2002. Review the caused of the fire on 2002 and you'll probably have an idea what preventive maintenance procedure may have been neglected. I have a lot of confidence with GPA. They will find the problem, correct it, and be up and running.

Islander2, you need to do your homework. I'll give you a few study points.... GPA insurance policy, federal clean air act requirements, gpa contingency plans, the new powerplant in the planning stages, just to name a few. Find the common link between all those things and you too shall see the bigger picture. Saipan has been out of power for about a month already and residents there would do anything to get their hands on anything that can generate power , even going as far as using their cars and a power inverter to keep the lights on. It's crazy to see what people will do when the power goes out . All that stuff runs on premium grade gasoline or diesel. So , yes, I see the bigger picture... GPA is doing the best they can with what they have available to them. They too, operate with budget shortfalls. Stop blaming them for fuel surcharge prices that are beyond their control. We live in a remote part of the world , and money is what it takes to keep the lights on . A lot of people forget that every single GPA employee is a rate payer too. When our rates go up, so does every employee. If you think you can do a better job, go right ahead. I'm sure they could use some people who "know it all". Again, thank you to the men and women of the guam power authority for keeping the lights on despite the setback.

Ryan when a resident pays for electricity we expect it with out interruptions , when GPA raises rates we have no choice but to pay for it or go without electricity , we pay the higher rates and we expect our lights to stay on without and worry that it will go out . Gov Guam has borrowed to its limit and for GPA to Repair and replace those generators will cost millions in funds Gov Guam doesn't have . After years of Government staff siphoning off the tax payers funds /gov Guam's coffers we are to positive ? You ignorant fool , you see the bigger picture ? Really ? What does it look like in the picture you see ? Financial stability ? A quick repair of Cabras power ? OMG , Idiots !

People are so negative. Are you all forgetting what life was like on this island before? Load shedding, power outages for days and some instances, for weeks? Those days are pretty much over yet people never remember how far our power system has come since then. While the authority is struggling with the problem with the fire, your lights are still on, a/c still cooling you down, and you are still with power. Not a simple feat for GPA to accomplish considering it just lost 2 base load generators. Yes, they have their issues, but who doesn't.? My hat is off to the hard working men and women of the Guam power authority . Yes, there are still people out there who see the bigger picture and appreciate all that you do. Keep up the good work
