I predict they'll sell to a hedge fund, which will then close the plants, sell off the assets, realizing a short-term profit for their investors.

Another sad development for those workers shipped off to GF in an attempt by IBM to cut costs and boost stock price. IBM is now a sinking ship with employees who simply don't care about their product or services because IBM leadership has destroyed morale. Once the envy of the area as far as employers IBM has become a symbol of corporate greed and disdain for their employees. Exactly the opposite view of the founders who created IBM. Just have to wonder who will end up footing the bill when the extent of the groundwater pollution is uncovered in East Fishkill? IBM will be long gone. Global Foundries might be right behind them. Profits and greed. Enough is simply never enough for corporate America. Piper is announincing a mega merger and at the same time moves to Ireland. They make a profit selling their drugs here but refuse to pay anything near their fair share like the rest of us. Imused to envy those who were employed by IBM now I pity them. I would never use a service or product produced by IBM becuase their is no longer any quality in their company normdomImwishnto reward their disgusting behavior and actions.

Family worked at IBM. They were smart enough to see the 'writing on the wall' years ago and got out. What was once a good company quickly turned bad. The hierachy took a good slice of the profit. The work force was left with inadequate severance packages and retirement. Downsizing meant one's job was sent overseas. Our governor even used Global's purchase in his re-election campaign. He flaunted how the mid-hudson region would benefit with more jobs and better economy. And then we have realty...worsening economy and no more jobs. They all lied!

Even though I have never been employed by IBM, this concerns me. Just the fact that IBM had to pay Global Foundries to take this division off their hands, is unbelievable. If this does go through, who knows what the new owners would do to the employees. How times change.IBM was one time, admired by most.
