Our student's are the new Governor's, Lt. Governor's, on down the Government Channel's, So that's
a big reason to budget DOE

My kids attend public school. They love it. I'm so thankful for the teachers, staff and administrators who do the best with the resources they have. Public officials for years have been saying education is priority, but actions really do speak louder than words.

No GDOE is not funded to cover the actual expenses for education. My wife and I take money out of our own pockets for supplies so her students have things needed to understand what they are discussing. They don't have enough books for all the students. The teachers are limited on what they are allowed to copy so my wife accomplishes this at home using our equipment and power. I feel that it's wrong that we pay taxes to the govt and I still have to support the Dept of Education!

Too many problems to list here on why the school system is not working. Funding is only the tip of the iceberg. But it does help when you have schools that are built and maintained properly so it is a learner friendly environment. Many of the schools have to be razed to the ground and rebuilt to support a 21st century student. If the senators, governor and other elected officials had to work in the same conditions that most of our students have to endure, I doubt they would stay. Also if teachers have the essential support such as being able get the disruptive students the interventions they need to get back on track with the real mission of the public schools which is to turn out students that are productive and responsible citizens. Most teachers spend their own money to make things happen in the classroom. Teachers want to be teaching instead of having to go through the paperwork and other busy work that they have been tasked with. That is why many teachers leave the profession.

Maybe instead of paying out millions in retroactive salaries to elected and appointed officials, including political hires in Adelup, that money could have been provided to supply textbooks for students. But of course politicians believed they were more important, so they stole that from our children. The raises were a conspiracy, but the retro salaries amounting to a year were grand theft.

All the money that could've helped gdoe was spent on their inflated hay study pay raise , retro pay , Calvo's museum , Tenorio's Guam seal park and every other personal interests they have shoved down the public tax payers throat and forced to accept. Calvo even raised the debt limit and dummy senators passed it , how are they going to even maintain anything ? Build , build , build then forget about it is their motto.
Purchase , purchase ,purchase , borrow borrow borrow more freakin money to operate. If this was a private company it would of shut down long time ago and have declared bankruptcy . Thank You Gov Guam.

What is going on? The amount of money spent on "backpay" to unclassified GovGuam workers seem to be a higher priority than our education system. Why not give retroactive monies to GDOE for funding it has requested in the past but was not just slashed, but burnt out of the GDOE approved budget.

How sad is our GDOE funding situation Guam? VERY SAD!...It is beyond shameful, it is pitiful!

    Really?
