Governor Calvo talks about making right decisions, he also talks about past governors, first of all correct me if i am wrong because weall make mistakes but when does it come to mind where you can use tax payers money to pay for the your wrong doing you have caused lets just see if you can find ways to solve one issue and then the rest

REGARDLESS OF WHAT HE IS THE GOVERNER AND IT'S ABOUT POWER HE CAN DO WHAT HE WANT TO DO.

  • john doe - 8 years ago

Listen everyone, the Gov. and his legal advisers were fully aware it was ILLEGAL, but went on ahead with the process because the TAX PAYERS are hear to stay so they (Gov. Office) can make US (TAX PAYERS) pay for their STUPIDITY & IGNORANCE and ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES.
Step up GOVERNOR and pay it back, don't let US (people of Guam) suffer. We are not stupid. Mr. Calvo you and your team are not above the LAW.

NO WANT IS ABOVE THE LAW.NO WANT IS,I THINK.OH I FORGOT, OOG.

  • BUenas - 8 years ago

Of course not! Now the Governor is coming up with all kinds of excuses, technical glitch, admin software problems, The attorney General needs to put him in his place, Fine him for the illegal act he did and not back down because he is a friend or related or whatever the case may be. If you commit a crime, You must do the Time.

greed does not constitute guilt since ignorant is a bliss calvo is no accountable for he does not know what he is doing. I guess his top advisor should be fired. Who s the policy advisor?

  • Jackson - 8 years ago

Juan Santos, I think the government is broke, not just the legislature. All unclassified employees should be concerned whether or not they will have jobs, since the government seems to be spending money as if there is no tomorrow.

  • Juan Santos - 8 years ago

Yes..Governor should be held accountable. I also like that the Governor is also following the AG's guidance BJ Cruz requested. I like that the Governor is taking back his transfer of $800,000 to the legislature to help them with their raises. I am sure the legislature is scrambling right now. lol! Legislative layoffs coming soon. Be careful what you ask for BJ Cruz. Consider the legislature in a deficit $800,000 as of today. You guys are BROKE! Sorry employees of legislature.

JDM, truly our governor and his subordinates needs our prayer that is most important and we pray that God will give him wisdom as he leads this island. I hope that his mind is set on the welfare of the people of Guam and not any personal interest.

The lines on a road are the like the laws of our island, they are to direct us and keep us safe from harming ourselves and others. Do we cross the lines from time to time, YES, and not without a purpose. I believe the Governor, in this and like other cases, meant it for good. Pray for him and other leaders. Forgive and let's learn from this.

Where are the governors staff on this poll question? Are they confused on what to vote, that they choose not to vote today? 500 votes, versus 5000 whenever the question is pro or con on the government. People are suffering and they are stealing, and now they want to use taxpayer money to pay off their personal debts. I work in the government, and owe the bank $15,000 for a car loan. Can you spike my payroll this week as well and remit that payment to the bank so I can be debt free, or is that only a perk when you work for the governors office?

Why give those increments to them if you have people at GPA, GWA, GPD,GFD, GUAM MEMORIAL HOSPITAL that works so hard for the need of the Island, the safety & health issues. Don't leave these agencies hanging. I'm really sad how the government can't even focus on the problem at Guam Memorial Hospital this is the government's institution, why not prioritize these agencies? Instead of helping your own government hospital you allow a new hospital to come in yet people still prefer to go Off _Island or St. Lukes Hospital in Manila

  • Isla Bonita - 8 years ago

Give those increments to the hard working employees of the government of Guam, not to just those employees seating in the office and waiting for 5PM to leave. Pour those money to the employees that work for the people's safety & health. Guam Memorial Hospital needs help and you have those nurses and other professional workers who work so hard just take a quick lunch or dinner so they can accommodate their patients because of the shortage of nurses and other professional workers. Come on, it just shows how bad the government they can't even fix and solve the problem at Guam Memorial Hospital the only government hospital.

  • Basta Umbre - 8 years ago

Of course not, now it s going to be the blame game and looks like our leaders don't play well in the sandbox...AJ is right, and at the end of the day, we, Tax Payers will pay for everything. So sad, he should've just given a bonus across the board to all government employees, maseha gift certificates to PayLess....its better to please the thousands of employees then 100. There are other employees in the govt that do deserve bonuses, such as our teachers, law enforcement team, and the hard working linemen at GPA that put their lives on the line and the GWA guys that jump into mud to fix broken pipes. Or pour the money into GMH to better serve the entire island. Governors staff don't know what hard work is and they are doing their standard duties as a staff member, nothing extra to better our island people, just themselves. BTW where is the LT in all this? Shouldn't he jump in to save the island so he can get votes on the next election? He approved some raises didn't he? wait, he also promised to improve GPD and DOE which he didn't. He's been very quiet in all this..

What an embarrassing thing to do for a "father" stealing money from his Child's piggy bank. Punish that bastard. He is not above the law.

  • john doe - 8 years ago

People of Guam, don't fall for this, The Gov. NEW it was ILLEGAL to conduct such raise and -retros. He should be punish for it. To bad it's just a misdemeanor.

The Gov. had all the resources (AG's), to ensure he's action are good for the people but didn't use it. Because he's the Gov., he believed he could do whatever he wants. Punish him for it and lets send the word to future leaders

Hold Calvo accountable ? I wish ! Lol .... No one ever is held accountable when it comes to stealing our public tax funds , why would this be any different ? It's how they run Gov Guam , they take take and take and when they out of money , they borrow and just borrow some more .
This island is headed for bankruptcy like Puerto Rico , thank you Gov Guam !!!

  • JDM - 8 years ago

Governor Calvo is an honorable man and will do what's right to correct this. I pray for all my leaders on Guam and consider that their jobs are no more easier than my own or others.

Guam needs to consider that there is so much more healing that needs to take place. God in Heaven, please help Governor Calvo and all our islands leaders, judges, and others who make decisions, rules, or enforce laws bear good and honest witness to the work of their hand you have appointed them to. Let them receive your knowledge and wisdom to do what is right and just in your sight always and when they ask you it it. In Jesus name I pray this. Amen.

  • A J - 8 years ago

Of course not. Guess who is going to pay back the illegal bonuses that was given? you guessed it, the tax payers.

  • Really? - 8 years ago

Really?, why would we waste good resource to go after the Governer and spend more good money for a MISDEMEANOR? Let the AG do their job. AG EBA has larger fish to fry than our Governer. I would rather focus on our educational need. safety concerns (Christmas promotes stress, people rushing in traffic, etc.), the homeless, other organizations within GovGuam that REALLY need the funds.

Let the AG do her job, the Governor has acknowledged it as something that should not have happened (albeit he takes the AGs advice when it is convenient), and we really need to move on.

This also has been a news media frenzy. The back-and-forth Legislature and Governor's office ordeal. Take the personal things that Sen. BJ Cruz and Gov. Eddie Calvo outside of GovGuam. Honestly, Guam has better things to do than watch this DRAMA.

  • Longfellow - 8 years ago

Sure he paid out taxes but at who's expense? Our children will be left with the bill.... They received a bonus for doing their job, I would be surprised if they showed up on time... Mr. Calvo all looks nice and dandy outside but let's start peeling back the layers. Safety issues can't even be addressed because your government claims there is no money but it magically appears for a bonus.

  • Frances cruz - 8 years ago

Any money that is not used in the government organizations regardless of which department should be apply over to the most critical necessity of the community so the Homeless, Child that are left behind or any families who are living in Poverty can have the opportunity to live and reform their lives again. Guam really needs to support their own people.
