I agree with Pablo's assessment. A very few of the so called "Consulting" firms were more than staffing augmentation firms and now are not able to effectively provide the Advisory Services required to take healthcare providers to the next level. A few of the small firms actually have done a better job than the majority of the mid-range firms.

Also a lot of the firms such as Aspen Advisors, Encore, Sagacious, Cipe,, and several others have go by the way side. Once the churn of not having a long runway of new installs coming these firms found themselves with values that were tanking. Further consolidation will continue through this year. I suggest you either go with the vendors or smaller boutique firms that have long term time in the healthcare space. Notice it not about IT its about leveraging knowledge and data. Two things a majority of the mid-range firms didn't have a lot of Mind-Muscle supporting.

Better: Transitioned out of the HIT staffing industry to a hotter market. HIT staffing is dying a slow due to several factors: 1) EHR providers establishing strong internal consulting teams (Cerner in particular), 2) Saturated market 3) Staffing is a commodity -- every HIT "consulting" firm website reads the same 4) Staffing firm inability to transition to advisory services
