Federal Housing Assistance should never have anything to do with Citizenship, It is based on the needs of the people. Majority of the Migrants and non-US citizens fall under the low income category giving them the opportunity to qualify for these assistance. The migrants and non-US don't have the skills and knowledge as these "US Citizens" do because for one, they do not qualify for most of these programs to better employment skills based on their non-us citizenship status, and two, they do not have the adequate education because they they don't have the funding. There's a solution to this problem, it's just the way the authorities or legislature looks at it. I really think these high paying senators should find a way to provide funding for employment training, educational studies, etc. This way the migrants and non-US can have a better chance in getting jobs and then they will learn to provide on their own without depending on federal assistance.

There should be NO FEDERAL HOUSING. The government's job is not to house and fed you.

    Yes indeed .. I don't see why they can't ....

Federal assistance should be only for those who need it, most people on island take advantage of it, ive known people who have lived on guam their entire lives and dont even own a house and still seek federal assistance. Seriously regardless where the people are from there are good people and bad.

Of course, U.S. citizens (not just Chamorros) should be afforded priority over regional migrants for Federal Housing Assistance on Guam. Funds may be Federally funded, but the local government fronts the monies, and administers the program.

These migrants come here trash the island and act as if we owe their people something. We have our delegate fighting for compact impact funding for us which in turn means fighting for them so they can reap all the free benefits soooooo irritating OFCOURSE I THINK LOCALS COME FIRST

This is really true that our people of Guam should have all the priorities over the Micronesians. We allow them to come to our island and give our hospitality. And what do they give us in return. Nothing but trashing our island, getting drunk and causing problems to our people. If you really think about who was found laying down drunk at the Harmon poll side with a weapon saying that it was for the Chamorro's. Think about our kids future. They need to go back where they came from.

It is true that most of these outsiders have no respect to say the least! They are vandals where ever they rome on our islands, especially in our public schools. I recall a few years ago that 60% of the population at DOC are Micronesians I will not be suprised if that percentage has increased.
I also have observed that they hate Chamorros, I don't know why that is. I have greeted them by saying, "hello" and they gave me a dirty looks, spit on the ground and stare right back at me to make sure I got their message and I'm a senior citizen! In my younger days one can get a horrible ass kicking just on a stare down! I say get rid of all of them, send them back to their island where they have nothing to look forward to but their primitive ways!!!!!!!

US Citizens First!!! Do you want migrants like Micronesians to take more advantage of the system we have right now? They overfill the housing and have no respect for their surroundings. Where I live at they trash the place and are constantly drinking alcohol and making noises all hours of the night. The U.S Citizens are usually go to work and come back home to quietly relax, and not put up with this BS and they do constantly. Give it to the people that respect what's givin to them and not take advantage!!!! Tired of this debate, everyone knows what needs to be done, so someone please implementing this!

U.S. Citizens should always be first! Also Micronesians should be checked for any medical conditions prior to being permitted to enter our island. That needs to be address it affects our people and our children - such as TB. Many of them come here and infects EVERYONE they get into contact with. HELLO - it's not just the housing or other federal programs that they take advantage of. They put our people and families at risk. This needs to be address as well!

Always local chammoro should be FIRST PRIORITY than outsiders. I have seen MANY take advantage of the system. Just like curtain amount of people that lives in a home and yet a hole clan or big (2 to 3) family living there and it is over crowded. Even until this day this resident have NO POWER, WATER and many trash around the area. Also on the other side down the hill plenty trash. My in-laws have made a complaint to EPA office about this matter and still NO action.
This family has been from many time about NO TRESPASSING on private property and they still do. What do it take for this families to RESPECT OTHERS.
Before we've also seen female walking out from the jungle from the river after bathing....This has to STOP. We have also had belongs missing from our place but just can't prove it..YET.

HELLO! This should not be a debate question, our families in the Island of Guam (US Citizen) should be the first and foremost priority to receive any Federal assistance from our government! THANK YOU!

Our local people should have priority alott of the Micronesians come to the island and take up majority of the housing and our local people are homeless or on waiting list to get help it's not like Wages pays high and cost of living on Guam is very high especially when some of are people can not afford to get educated. We have alott if single mothers in Guam that are left having to live with family because they have no where else to go

  • Belinda Benin - 8 years ago

    Local people should come first

  • Joseph Cooncepcion - 8 years ago

Our first & foremost priority is the people of the islands, chamorros. homeless, single parents. Any available sources , of course we can assist....

  • Concepcion C. Susuico - 8 years ago

Amen, they should. As U.S. Citizens we have rights to be the priority in the Island of Guam, especially our local people "Chamorro from, born and raised in Guam." It is so sad to learn that other islanders are given the priority at times, especially when you hear conversations coming from family member whose been in Guam all their life.

    God Bless
