Why should my tax dollars go to pay for someone else's time off when that person CHOOSES to have a baby? You knew the benefits that were available to you BEFORE you got pregnant. Make better life choices and stop choking the taxpayers with your inability to plan you life and finances better.
There are bigger issues in the state than your lack of financing and family planning choices.

As a worker in the private sector, I do not support my tax dollars paying for benefits for STATE or FEDERAL employees that are not available to me. The laws should apply equally to ALL citizens. It's time for the lawmakers (on the state or federal payroll) to pass regulations that benefit not only STATE and FEDERAL employees, but also benefit the taxpayers who foot the bill.

Honestly, anyone that hasn't had to struggle with this situation doesn't deserve to vote. My wife and I have had to go through this twice. Why is it companies like Netflix and Google can give their workers a full year of PAID leave. But teachers have to save up their sick days and maybe, just make it to two months with short term disability. Post pardum is difficult, especially with someone who already has anxiety issues. Something needs to be done.

They should only get 8 weeks 12 if its a difficult delivery. Or an Emergency C-Section
