It's just a matter of time 'till this Administration takes us all into bankruptcy. The massive looting has began immediately after winning their reelection bid.

Just legalize cannabis for recreational use and use the taxes to solely fund GMH........

Is there a way to revoke the QC's that were given to GRMC? If so, take back that sweetheart deal, and allot their GRT towards GMH. I also agree with previous commenter that privatization should take place after this administration ends its term in 2019. St. Lukes is a great option as the other commenter stated, but please no QC's should be issued, since our island needs the funds.

I agree with Mandy Mafnas. Bring in St. Lukes Hospital to be partners with GMH. Even GRMC are on island I still go to the Philippines in St. Lukes Global City. Why bring a second class hospital in Guam if they can bring one of the Worlds Best Hospital in the World, ST.LUKES Hospital

  • Mandy Mafnas - 8 years ago

Half private Half government hospital and bring in St. Lukes Hospital to be partner. NO TO GRMC
YES TO ST.LUKES, why you think St. Lukes Global CITY and QC in PHilippines still the Island of Guam's territory because doctors, services, and nurses are the best. Please bring St. Lukes Hospital in GUAM

Irene and Yes, please reiterate on this "Good Work" that you mentioned in your comments. I am not comparing this administration to others, as every one of them has a time and a place in history. However the actions of this administration in the last 6 years have led us to not only lose trust in their overall integrity, but it seems the advisor's in the front office are leading our island into a serious financial hole that is deeper than the Marianas Trench.

Look at the Y2K disaster, the school contracts, the tax credit scandal at GHURA, the Tiyan School fiasco, the non billings to certain health insurance companies at GMH, the legalizing of game rooms, the illegal pay raises issued to staffers and the obnoxious response, the number of contracts issued under the disguise of FestPac, and the list goes on and on. Any actions of this administration needs to be fully vetted for self interest, and I am most certain personal interests are written all over this legislation to borrow money for GMH.

So the answer is NO, we shouldn't borrow and we shouldn't privatize until the next administration comes in...whomever that shall be, assuming the people of Guam are smart enough not to place Ray Tenorio on that throne.

Las Ladronis!!...Again, this is a government that doesn't know how to budget themselves and our island that wants to increase the minimum wage and now they are going to tell us how to pay for their problems? Karma is looking at each and everyone of them in the eye. All our leaders are in cahoots with each other. We the people will never win. Lets not forget during election time, the raises they gave themselves, the millions waived off taxes owed by a senators family, all the lies about making safety, health and education priority.... These leaders have no shame, no conscious, no heart.

Yes, in fairness Governor Calvo is doing a great job for GUAM. People of Guam we will never have a perfect leader only God is. Off all the governors I appreciate Gov. Calvo for everything he is been doing for the community. Compare to the previous Governor, Governor Calvo did a great job. Give him chance to improve our only Government Hospital, we have to take care of our own hospital. Just because it's a government hospital we don't have to improve it needs improvement as well. GOD BLESS GUAM

  • Yes - 8 years ago

I voted yes because the hospital needs fixing..all this work that the Governor needs to put in- I hope that the next person doesn't mess up all the work that has been put in.

Privatization is the answer, but not until this administration is gone. Based on their actions and decisions thus far, I don't trust them. From corruption to poor advisement, every action results in either sweetheart deals for their family/friends or further placing the people of Guam in debt.

Insane to think Gov Guam will be able to pay its vendors , payroll and other obligations plus the loan payments that will be way over a billion $'s .
Only a fool would think its feesable . I'm telling you now save your money folks because Gov Guam is on its way to bankruptcy and normal operations will be reduced to a skeleton crew . Watch and see . Calvo has done a huge disservice to our island . To think the public is going to pay $500 million for the Tiyan high school is just mind boggling and no one is going to jail for making such a shady deal . It's amazing how Calvo and his goons can get away with grand theft . The landfill land purchase and the accumulated interest is something that would cause one to bang their heads against a wall in disgust but nobody cares . I am asking the F.B.I to please investigate these shady deals our Governor has made and see how much of what he has done has benefitted his family and Calvo business's including the Sgo's. Please vote the other well known corrupt individuals out like Barnes , Respicio , Rodriguez , Tenorio and I'm sure you know a few others that need to go.
Let's make a change and hope a more responsible legislative body and executive body takes the lead to start working for the people instead of their own pockets . I used to respect the Calvo's until I've witnessed their famous pocket stuffing campaign and how they steer public finds to benefit their own family business's. Tao Tao ultra corrupt Hao ! Lol ! Thanks Gov Guam !

The approach from avoiding to raising taxes to borrowing money to improve the hospital is a financial direction and decision placing the burden on future generations to improve present day problems. Obviously, borrowing the money is always based on the future outlook of the government of Guam, which reasonably states we borrow because we will have the means to pay it back. Should this not come true then we will look to Federal Government to cover any default that we have or we curtail government operations to make money free to pay down the debt. When taxes are raised, there is a negative impact on private industry and economy that is foreseen. And in a way, we will see government revenues dwindling from the private sector. Our leaders are faced with placing the burden of raising money on the present or future generations. I hope this is clear to you all. So what will it be gentlemen. This is the consequences of a social program in medical services, being that we choose more direct intervention in the lives of the people of Guam. Is there such a thing as a free ride anymore?
