Hmmm ... certain Doctors rush their patients off within ten minutes, after waiting to see them at least an hour in the waiting room ... being referred to specialist after specialist only to be told they can't do anything, and recommend that I go off-island ... costly ... clinics/hospitals not as clean as they should be ... some nurses/hospital personnel really rude! ... So, How would I rate the care on Guam? ... What do you think?

The question is medical care...which one, GMH, SDA, FHP, NRMC or what clinic people goes, too. I go to Naval Hospital, medical care wise, it's fair.

I think Gmh staff do an alright job. There isn't enough of them though. And gmh is in need of more medical supplies. Seriously.

1985, GMH, the nursing staff did not inform Dr. in time. I was hemorrhaging. My 1st born & I were fortunate to live after a traumatic birth. 2011, from 1st hand experience I was reluctant to go to GMH, but as high risk, I had no alternative at the time. My water broke after being induced. I went through a group of nurses who lacked the skill to install iv on my hands. My hands were black & blue & in extreme pain. Only one nurse new what she was doing. The nursing staff did not inform Dr. my water broke the night before. I gave birth the next morning. My son was in distress having no more amniotic fluid. He was struggling to breath, umbilical chord tightly wound around his throat leaving red mark on his throat, struggling to swallow with signs of lack of oxygen going to brain. He was put in intensive care for the 1st half of the day. Weeks later, I had to inform my pediatrician he was grossly underweight. He was struggling to nurse. She did not notice until I showed her. She was not paying attention to any of the signs-weight loss, loose skin, lack of bowel movements, failure to thrive. 2016 I had to go off-island to see a specialist. I had surgery. If I hadn't gone I would most likely be paralyzed. I had no x-ray only, pain killers. For an unrelated medical issue, I had a CT scan. It revealed a serious problem with my spine. I had been walking around for almost 6 months with a broken back. Numerous family members/aquaintances have similar horror stories. A gross lack of adequate healthcare, properly trained medical staff, sanitary conditions & lack of specialists on island should not be an issue for the health & welfare of our community. It is not the dark ages, it is 2016!
