Many voters on island completely abstain from participating in local elections for three main reasons: There are simply no candidates who share the same stances on critical issues with the abstaining voter; the abstaining voter recognizes the corruption, rigging, and nepotism associated with the predominant "pari system" culture of GovGuam and refuses to participate; or the abstaining voter recognizes the illegal occupational unincorperated american government of Guam and refuses to participate in illegal occupational government activities until self-determination is granted and the Indigenous People of Guam, the CHamoru's, are to choose the legal political status of the island.

If everyone eligible registers and votes, then we better our chances of electing the right public officials that would work to the best interest of the masses. Otherwise, we all might as well accept the current system of corruption, inefficiencies and more borrowing.
