I have always used the Dededo substation until they closed. I have not used the Harmon one it is too much of a hassle to drive there. The DEDEDO one was so much more convenient.

I have been using the transfer stations for years as it has been more feasible for me than to lug my trash down my hill for pick up. I keep my trash in bins and go to the transfer station when they're full. I also recycle plastic, cardboard and glass jars and take them there as well. It's also been much more affordable, than the monthly pick up rates.

If you can afford to buy things that make trash, you can pay for it's disposal. I don't make much money either and would rather not pay. That doesn't give me the right to dump anywhere I want. It is simple. Don't break the law. Give up the fast food and other not necessary expenses so you can afford to pay for trash disposal like the rest of us. The reason trash disposal is so high is because of the feds and their court order. If they just let the island manage solid waste again it would be affordable. Right now we are paying large amount of money for the feds to manage it for us.

Have not used the Transfer stations since the one in Dededo, along with the Recycle place next to it closed; it is very frustrating these days to know who takes what trash. There should be at least three different places throughout the island to dispose of waste. One in the North, Central, and South. The island is only 34 miles long so this shouldn't be an issue for folks in those particular areas to go to those places. As far as cost, I find them reasonable regardless of how much one makes. People just need to minimize their lives if they can't afford the fees.

G Baura gets my agreement. Good observation, thought and recommendation.

Open the Dededo Transfer Station again. If not then have Global Recycling which is physically located next to the former Dededo Transfer Station closed for the same reasoning. That being it is a threat to the northern aquifer.
Dededo transfer station put all of its waste into containers, that is to say off the ground. Global recycling has old cars and metal on the ground. Go figure.

The Dededo Solid waste is the main one that should be open. More redidents find the location better for both Yigo, NCS, Butulu, Okkodo and Harmon residence. Improve on this site as less elligal dumping will occur.

When the the trash fees are unaffordable to most Guam residents, the people could care less about transfer stations . They just opt to dump their trash along the side of private or public roads.

This is one of the problems that Government officials can't solve. GovGuam is "All hammer, No nail "
    What a damn shame !!!

Here's is my suggestion : Make the trash fees more affordable based the income of the household.
and if people are unemployed then let them dump their trash for free .... I know the Government doesn't like the word "Free" , but it cost more to remove trash from illegal dump sites. you do the math.
