Corporate America is taking over the retail/restaurant sector across country..only those at the top make comfortable wages to raise a family on...

BUY LOCAL FIRST (If they have ads all over, chances are they are not local)

Well dew to the fact that my father works for a very small chain lumber company and when B&E got shut down because of home depot so that put my dad out of work . But he was lucky to find work with another company that has nice people and take the time with you and maje sure your order is right .. so that is why I'll support smaller business and not the box stores that want to run over the little man .. and the big box stores don't give two craps about their workers .. so Walmarts can just burn to the ground

This is so sad. I have gone to this store for years. Walmart can't makes keys correctly. I went to Walmart three times and the keys were not cut and didn't work. I go to this store and they cut once and the keys work. I've purchases other items from this store as well. These developers and landlords are being greedy, it's sad, it is the sign of the times, they don't care. The landlord is probably doing this to the other stores because they want something else there and have had a better offer. 30% increase a sad day. Shame on you greedy landlords.

Its a shame to see the small stores close. While I do shop at Lowes I also go out of my way to do business w the small hardware stores. The smaller stores usually provide friendly knowledgeable staff that you don't get at the larger stores.

I assume this poll is about Wilmington ? NO PARKING, AGGRESSIVE METER MAIDS, BUMS BEGGING ON THE STREET, AND VERY FEW PLACES TO SHOP, high crime rates, now Middletown AND Newark continue to have busy main streets, they both have a lack of parking also, but more importantly they have low crime rates

It's easier to go to a big box store and do one stop shopping. That's a shame. It chokes out the smaller, local stores. And, as another commenter stated local crafts. It's better to have different crafted items than mass produced cheap junk.

Some shops are inevitable to close, it's natural. However there are a lieu stores which are rarely recognized and have mastered crafts or amazing products that aren't being recognized by the community and are easily butted out by larger, cheaper corporate businesses. I think there needs to be a better balance between corporate businesses and main street stores and more promotion on the local businesses in our communities.
