Coastal systems in the West Antarctic are under rapid change. We encourage presentations of multi-disciplinary approaches to the analysis of current and prediction of future change in ecosystems fronting melting (or still stable) glaciers. Comparing different systems in different states of change, we will better understand interconnection of multiple drivers, including small scale processes and the relation with the shelf and open ocean areas. We also want to discuss how to best observe and model complex change scenarios in coastal systems.

There are a number of exciting recent studies and ongoing project addressing glaciology, physical oceanography, ecosystem structure/function and climate change in Antarctic fjord, cove and coastal environments. It would be exciting to have a session on this set of topics, i.e., "Multidisciplinary studies in fjords/coastal waters".

    Dear sir/madam,

Will there be a session on integrated/strategic design for extreme environments?
If not, I'm interested in convening this session/topic for the next SCAR conference.

I look forward to hearing from you.
    Kind regards,
