Following the trend set at SCAR 2016 in Malaysia where education and outsreach presentations were held in two well attended dedicated sessions it is benteficial to hear the unique ideas related to education and outreach. Theme 5 is seeking to disseminate biological sciences research to a expanding list of audiences. It is crucial to hear from colleagues that have implemented effective programs that could be adapted or replicated thus moving toward the goal of theme 5
