Should Yandere Simulator be an open-world game?

Compromise, while the focus is in the school it'd be interesting to see a few small areas. Neighbourhood/Senpai's house (to stalk him and get more for your shrine), a shopping district for objects you couldn't get in school (While running the risk of being traced) or even buying extra clothes (or panties for better bonus's).

Nothing big or open world, but a few areas to enrich the experience.

  • 5rovv - 9 years ago

Would be interesting stalking senpai in open world.

  • Shadowrunner - 9 years ago

Compromise. And a much larger school enviroment.

Open world just don't fit in the game atmosphere, as i see it for now.

  • Increadibat - 9 years ago

I think it should have more places to go to but not an open world. If it was an open world there would be thousands of bugs to fix. I think you should be able to go to other people's houses and small shops and other places like that.

This is just my personal opinion on open world games. I love games but games with an open world that can be interacted with are usually the most fun for me. I often hear people talk about how much they love open world games with the ability to interact with them. But that's just what I have mostly heard.
(Not the best example) Sleeping Dogs let you buy food from venders, buy new clothes, and help random people to gain a reputation around the city. And you got buffs from all of them. Those small things made a huge difference. Maybe there is some adult store in town she could buy speical panties from? Or maybe she could buy something to hide her face when she's sneaking around at night?

Back to Yandere Simulator, she's totally bonkers! why would she help random people.. So she could look better and not be as easily blamed for something someone said she did or people wouldn't believe the rumurs about her. Maybe if someone trusts her, she can easily brake in to their place of business or home and steal something that will help you spy on senpie or something that will help her "relocate" her competition. A weapon you wouldn't be able to find on school grounds. Not to mention maybe a school isn't the safest place to take someone out. especially if you have already taken care of two girls already and kind of messed up and made to much noise. The girl her self might be paranoid but that doesn't mean everyone in town would be staring at Yandere Chan suspisusly.

More about Yandere Simulator. When I first heard about this game I was so excited and I still am. I honestly don't care if I have to wait years. This is almost like Bully combines with Hitman. An unlikely but amazing combo! I enjoy the unfinished version more then I should. I am psyched for this game no matter how long it takes. This is a great creative approach to gaming and I'll probably buy it at full price when it does come out.

Open world are really interesting but I think yandere simulator doesn't need a completely open world. It would be cool to have several routes to students homes (most important is senpai's home obviously). This way you can kill someone in the dark street! Or stalk senpai by yourself!

  • BlinkXPoke - 9 years ago

The logic behind this idea is sound, though the idea of the game being a "stealth" game feels like it fits the theme of being a Yandere more.

Thus, I chose the "Compromise" choice. I firmly believe that more environments would be good for the game, and would make more sense, as a student's life is not constricted at all to the school, BUT, at the same time, they spend most of their days at school, making a fully fleshed-out town rather pointless.

What I had in mind was something similar to Persona 3 and 4, where there are different places you can go other than school, along with activities if you so choose. There can be a shopping district, where perhaps many students will hang out, and Yandere-chan can speak with many people to get info, as well as to buy various things. A housing district, where she can stalk people, maybe invade other peoples' homes, or simply return to her own. There could be alleys for delinquents to loiter around, or quieter hangout spots like a small park for more humble folk. Maybe a warehouse district of some sort where Yandere-chan can stage mass kidnappings or provide a much easier location to commit murders. Finally, perhaps a police station and/or hospital for witnesses and victims to go to.

In the end, though, the majority of action I'd imagine would be in school, but I can imagine rivals like a shopaholic who would spend vast amounts of time in the shopping area, or a delinquent girl who often goes to the shadier districts, who may even skip class to do this, and therefore, Yandere-chan might need to make the choice to skip, as well, in order to get more information on them, or even outright kill them while they're off-campus, requiring other methods to clean the crime scene.

It also opens the door to a day-night system, and carrying out stealthy tasks in the dead of night, like stalking (as I mentioned earlier), kidnapping, assassination of witnesses or the rival, etc.

Senpai could also have habits of places he likes to go, in this way. An interesting thought I had was the necessity to stalk Senpai every now and then to figure out what he really likes in his life and in the woman he'd choose to date. How much Yandere-chan learns about Senpai affects his ultimate decision in whether he goes out with her, regardless of the fact that all rivals have been eliminated.

It may need to involve some direct interaction with Senpai, though, which is difficult with Senpai vision, and the fact that he's bothered by your presence. There would need to be a way for Yandere-chan to plant the seeds of love for her in Senpai's heart, indirectly. Or, maybe instead of Senpai vision, the dialogues with him are much more shy and awkward (maybe even locking out any "Talk" options for a while except "Bye"), until you find a way to hold a deeper conversation? It's a thought, at least.

I went off on a bit of a tangent, but all-in-all, I love the work you are doing! I'm excited for every update, and wish you the best of luck on the completion of this game!
I apologize for the absurdly long comment, but I wanted to express my thoughts on the matter, and my gratitude to your effort and, if you read all this, your consideration for these suggestions!

It would be cool to see if there was more open environment to this game. It would allow more openness to the game in, and allow us to gain more reputation if we do things with people around the town and also gather stuff for info Chan and maybe get more ability to receive better favors. All in all I'd love to see this game with a more open environment allowing us to do more and receive more in the end game and also will make the game less boring and repetitive at the end. So developers you have my support 100.

  • Zaric Zhakaron - 9 years ago

I'm 100% okay with the gamine having an indefinite release date. We've already seen so many awesome things done in the small school setting, and I'm excited to see what you can create in the future with an open town. The dev videos you produce keep the game relevant in the eyes of the community -- as long as you keep this two-way communication going, I don't think you'll have any trouble maintaining or expanding the project. Just remember it is possible to expand your way to bankruptcy -- so be careful whom you hire and for what... but in terms of time -- you've got all the time in the world as long as you keep the lines of communication open, your feature videos keep people hyped.

  • AustinDotEXE - 9 years ago

I would like to see more places in a game like this. But an entire open world seems totally unnecessary, mostly in the ways that were described in your video. I chose the compromise option because, while it may take a little longer, it wouldn't take as long as generating a whole living world state. With a set number of open areas, you could keep the scope of the game focused on the goal instead of goofing around too much, because you definitely CAN goof around too much.
You should build the game around things Yandere-chan could do that would suit her progression through the game. Like a mall for gathering information, obtaining new weapons, gaining extra experience outside of school. Or a park near or on the way to school, where you can stalk Senpai, target new victims, or lure victims in order to deal with them.
An open world is not necessary, it's an interesting idea, but too much of an open world can harm the flow of the game just as much as a small designated single area can. Think about games like Persona, Akiba's Trip, or the Yakuza games! Those worlds are big, but they are limited to designated open areas, and that is all there needs to be. In Yakuza, the only place where anything interesting happens is Kamurocho, and if there is a need to go to another area, like Kyoto or a harbour, those areas are accessible by way of the taxi or train.
Yandere Sim doesn't need an open world, but it would benefit greatly from a variety of open areas that can be used to the player's advantage. Open world is more trouble than it's worth.

  • Kiki - 9 years ago

i dont know about completely open world like the small town. i had the idea of maybe a strip mall like area that would be a popular hang out place, it could maybe feature a book store for more points in skills. whatever it is that you decide to do, it shouldnt matter when it is complete, just so long as the game is playable as a demo with a majority of features implemented.

  • Solar - 9 years ago

Open world would be interesting and maybe you wont only kill people at the school. Maybe stalk Senpai around town. Maybe kill the girls around the town. Maybe push the music case with the tranquilized girl in it home. So many things you could add to the game. Run from cops. Lose the students trying to prove you are a murderer. Maybe add Holidays when school is out or like just the weekend off from school. I'm sure we will all donate and support you with anything you add to the game.

  • Senpai is Gay - 9 years ago

You should probably finish the school first.. But I totally agree that this game should be Open World because as the others said, stalking senpai home and kidnapping him would be nice, And if u have connections with Azzman you should talk to him, his a big fan of Yandere Simulator

  • Lulolwen - 9 years ago

I understand being worried that the game may become boring if it's limited to one environment, but I feel like there's still some room to work with in the school. Small changes between weeks like the rooftop fence can help break up the monotony. Maybe the school's outbuildings are still under construction? Some areas of the school also might not be particularly useful until later rivals appear, since some areas effectively require resources to use, like the chem lab requiring chemistry. Balancing resource allocation with the options and spaces they unlock could lead to the school sort of unfolding in complexity as the player progresses.

That being said, I also feel like there's room for more environments in Yandere Simulator. The small-town feel of the school invokes images of life in the town beyond, like festivals or a local shrine. Murdering someone while their screams are muted by fireworks or mopping off the floorboards of a shrine with Yandere-chan in a miko uniform could lead to some pretty memorable... eliminations. Bonus points if there's a dock with a nice boat.

I'm not a fan of an "open world" in Yandere Simulator, though. Yandere have explicit targets to eliminate, and Yandere Simulator (to me, at least) is about the multiple paths to that goal. In contrast, I feel like open worlds emphasize setting your own goals through exploration. Let's be honest, they're also really expensive.

All I'm really going to say is, there's always room for expansion packs or post-release content updates. Or even a sequel, if there's enough content. And there's also room for keeping the scope small and making it a very tightly focused game. Play it by ear and see what you think fits. We trust you, YanDev.

  • Zero - 9 years ago

I feel that an open world will add more option to stalk and be stealthy in killing off people that your targeting. Also getting closer to other npcs to get info and getting close to a families so they don't suspect the player as the killer and build reputation. The world could be dived into sections like school, town, bay ,and houses. If a place with houses were implemented than the character wouldn't feel so static and with different personalities it could evolve yandere-chans motives. If this comes true you maybe able to use so if the early work with decision making relavent in getting Senpai.

  • Wally - 9 years ago

Build Arkham Asylum before going and making Arkham City or Knight.

The problem with all open world games is that there has to be something to do. Players can only explore and stare at pretty buildings, and senpai, for so long before they get bored. Games succeed or fail on the basis of their game-play. As you seem to plan on being the only programmer, it would be a harsh undertaking to make the world from that game in your video to work right.

Building a bigger game is pretty much the goal of a sequel not your initial title.

  • BassDrop18 - 9 years ago

Well, to be honest I understand that you may not have the money for it, I would really love to have the small town, but would you be able to kill people in the town? Or just in school? Would you be able to do almost everything you do at the school and still do it in the town? Anyways, I would love it to have that feature, even if it takes another year (Six Months) Extra to wait

  • hihi - 9 years ago

you should finish and perfect the school part first

  • wrETcHedinsANity - 9 years ago

I love the open world idea. If you decide to do it you should make it switch between night and day. It would be funny if you could sneak into senpai's house and watch him sleep or take more of his personal belongings to add to the senpai shrine. It would also be fun to stalk him on dates with rivals around town. I'm willing to wait over 2 years for you to finish this game if that's what it takes to accomplish your vision for Yandere Sim. It has everything I love in a game ❤

  • Gwendolynn - 9 years ago

I think Open World would be really interesting! It's make the game more fun!
But I want you to limited the place that yandere-chan can going ...

Because, If you made model of the town and you don't use it for anything, for example, You build the house of neighborhood but you have none business in it ... So, why are you build it? Isn't it make you more tired?

Maybe just artwork of town and let player make their choice of where are they want to go?

The place that yandere-chan can going maybe just Senpai house, Yandere-chan house, Rival house ... I don't know, Maybe much more than this.

    Just in my opinion though.

So I vote agree with Open World, BUT I want you to limited the place that yandere-chan can going.
So it's half Open Wolrd?? haha

  • Berry - 9 years ago

You should first finish off the school and if you're done with that, then you should start making the small town

  • Iris - 9 years ago

The player can just click on the place they want to go on the map.

  • Shion - 9 years ago

It would be perfect if you actually make it like the anime higurashi no naku koro ni :D

Takes place in a small town and people get killed

  • Lewn - 9 years ago

If you add an open world, some core game mechanics will have to change, such as how time functions. It might also make the game run badly on cheaper computers. I think it would be better to add smaller locations with interesting events or mechanics.

You could learn the location of a rival's house, for instance, and either plan a murder near/in the home, or sneak in while she's gone to find blackmail. Different stores could allow for different tools and weapons, possibly some more silly than practical.

A new location could be designed for a school trip that takes place on a predetermined week. This would give the added challenge of needing to learn a new environment on the fly.

And though the option of romancing Senpai isn't going to be present, it could be possible to leave gifts bought in town in his locker, or in someone else's if you're trying to play matchmaker. Creepy gifts such as bugs could also be an option if you want to ruin a relationship, though it would be good to then restrict this from being used on Senpai to avoid an easy way to hurt your rival.

And I wonder what would happen if you found Senpai's house?

  • Iris - 9 years ago

I just think you should make a map where it allows Yandere-chan go to other places, and you can just created the places on the map.

  • Kirito - 9 years ago

Only make the streets to go to school and anywhere else you need to put into play, for example, the girl who likes the sempai will be on show in the city, you can make a street that connects the house and yandere school so we can go there walking, not nessessariamente being free in the city, around the single street could be barred passage to homes and other simple things, so could add places like the show I told that there ouvesse a way to murder victim, a small show of course with 10 nPCs is enough or elsewhere as shopping, market, clothing store and make a single street that connects the environments so we can choose where we want to be, and all may be nearby because the game should not focus on getting walking down the map, but to be dynamic to go where we want to make more victims in different places

  • anon - 9 years ago

In my opinion, it would be best to make the game the best it could be. I understand what you mean when you talk of the potential yandere simulator has, and I think pushing the original release date would be acceptable for your team to try and make the game as great as possible. I think as long as you keep releasing great videos on your youtube channel like this one then support wont die down, and making a patreon, you could probably get quite a few donations.

  • Pantsu41 - 9 years ago

I think that would be good have some other places, like senpais house or little shop where you can buy some equipment and maybe presents for senpai or the others, like you would ship two classmates together, because you gave the girl present and say that the present is from the boy she likes or something like this.^^

  • Josuke - 9 years ago

I think making it somewhat of an open world would make it more interesting. maybe you could have some more options like being able to invite rivals to hang out with you outside of school Ex. going to the beach/dock, coming to your house, going biking and then having the ability to sabotage these activities. Plus it's always fun to have an added senpai stalking ability.

  • Lilily - 9 years ago

In my opinion, there must be some enviroments like markets, where you can buy thing like weapons or poisons. It'd be more realistic and less difficult to make.

  • tritri-80 - 9 years ago

mabye you could buy weapons in town and put dead body in the sea , aving parents and a police in the scool , should be funny to had a "panties combo" if you take like 5 shot of them in a minute .anyway , you made a greate job (sory for the bad anglish , i'm french)

  • Anson - 9 years ago

Open world...that is a great idea. I mean, yandere simulator should not just kill people or sth just that. I think for open world it can be more realistic for these games. Open world is a perfect idea to let players to do WHAT THEY WANT. The game would be even better if you kill someone in the town and the police chase you or sth like that in the open world.

  • SukebanCho - 9 years ago

I chose compromise, but I think it would be great to focus on the original idea and get it polished. Maybe other locations could be released as add-ons later. Either way, I'm totally buying this game.

  • Pandada - 9 years ago

I belive you should try to go for the open world but if it doesnt work out or if the donations isn't enough then go for making the school larger instead. I mean i love the opportunity to kill a student outside of school like the park or alleyway or even at their own home by sneaking in. With an open world the ways of killing people would be vast and interesting and buying equipment from places outside the school would make sense because how can Yandere chan be able to obtain those weapons and from what source? Anything can be answered in open world but it only depends on the people who would support your game. I hope you reach your goal no matter what choice wins in the poll and thank you for your hard work inti making this game into a reality!

  • Remus - 9 years ago

Well, I feel that adding a town and an open world environment would benefit as it can open up numerous gameplay options such as stalking a victims house or buying equipment from stores. However I feel that for now, establishing the basic gameplay would be the best, and maybe these extra ideas can come in later as a patch or DLC

  • Cryosin - 9 years ago

Honestly I say work on the plan and improving it. I don't mind if it isn't open world, but it would be awesome, maybe you can like do what the Persona (and whatever other games that do it) games do with the way you travel and just add stores and places that will help yandere-chan; such as stores, your house and maybe a shrine. Of course senpai's house is a must, good way to use those stealth mechanics. But really I would like for you to create your dream game, so if it means I'll have to wait another 6 months or even a year; I'll support it till the end.

  • Rokios - 9 years ago

I think that open world would be good. You could base it off the town from Shenmue or even Bullsworth from Bully?

  • mechajunko - 9 years ago

I like the idea of making the game open world.
Of course I understand the main objective of the game but I would happily wait for a game which gave me more options and a more memorable experience.
Yandere-chan is not always in an insane state and it would be interesting to have normal things happen that could perhaps transition into a murder situation.
As a farfetched example perhaps senpai could have a relationship meter of sorts that showed how close he was to accepting a confession from multiple girls at the same time. If he went to karaoke with someone then that girl would be that much closer to winning him over.
If they happened to sing a duet together then that b*tch needs to go...
Planning murders outside school grounds and perhaps even watching potential victims at home might be a really cool addition.
Not being locked within the school grounds would make for a much more immersive experience.
I've also thought how cool it would be if there were more allies or friends to aid you in your objective or even if there was another yandere lurking around the school that you needed to avoid and plan around.
At the end of the day I'm confident the final product will be far from stale as I was able to enjoy the 8% build for about 9 total hours. Keep up the good work. The way things are going you'll have a final product that I'll have no problem throwing money at.
Sorry for scattering off and going off tangent haha.

  • Elliot - 9 years ago

I would realy like there to be an open world function and would be willing to donate for it to be there. But I think you should focus on creating the weekly rival mechanic, many fun ways to sabortage and kill people and implement the story part of it so you have the base of what the game really is at it's core before you add things that would make the game a thousand times better. Also, even before you add the open world I think things like character customization, unique npcs and a better layout of the school (where there are actual separate classes, classrooms and club rooms) should be added before you even start drawing the layout for a town.

  • meow - 9 years ago

I really want you to be able to walk around yandere's house, that would be the coolest thing. I don't really want it to be an open world game though. Adding a few more environments to the game would be awesome to but i really wanna be able to walk around yandere's house and talk to her parents and stuff.

  • LT *=* Jeric - 9 years ago

Or focus on the main things then eventually add an open world feature to it.

  • ZSXamus - 9 years ago

I like the concept of this, but I think at this point open world might not be the best option. Maybe something like danganronpa 2 where it's kind of a side scroller, with accessible areas? And new parts of this town could be unlocked per rival. Like maybe you need to spy on a rival to overhear a call that she will be on the school roof at a certain time, or that she has IBS and will be in the bathroom a lot. Idk just my input

  • Beyond Paradise - 9 years ago

Open World, I feel, would greatly enhance the game. I have enjoyed the current builds at times I want to explore you interpretation of a Japanese Small Town of sorts. Imagine all the possibilities with Yandere going around times and not only having her way in school but having her way in the town. Things could include just relaxing or "extra" activities with your new "friend" that stays with you "forever." I am in full support of Open World Yandere Sim. I am part of the Yandere Faithful.

  • Repliod - 9 years ago

Yandere Sim would definitely benifit from a small town but maybe release the town as dlc after the release of Yandere Sim

  • Mitch - 9 years ago

I believe if Yandere Simulator would have much more potential if there was a town to venture into. I believe some of the perks of having a town would include the following:
-Stores: Buy chemicals and weapons that would benefit Yandere-Chan in her murder
-Student homes: Lie to their family and make them feel unwanted, take extra panty shots, and even set traps
-Environments: Cause drama depending on the situation such as a class trip to the beach where a fight breaks out
Some additional things I believe could benefit the overall development of Yandere Simulator would be:
-Using the shock of a teacher to your advantage (kill them)
    -Betray students you have befriended
-Use befriended students to get info about others (An alternative to Info-Chan, for those who find panty shots tedious work)
-Transfer students would add more drama in the sense that they could be taken advantage of with their lack of cultural knowledge
I have much much more ideas that I believe would make this game even more fantastic than it is, but I shall save them for another time.

  • Kiddykats101 - 9 years ago

Please don't make this an open world! Please!!! This game could use more environment but, an open world? Six more months?! If you do this, the game will never be the same. Not the simple killing, stalking, pantie Yandere.. But another dull Minecraft. I know the others disaggre, but if you do this can you keep a version of the latest build to download? I'd rather download this unfinished one.

  • Terongie - 9 years ago

There are a lot of very interesting mechanics that can be attributed to an open world
Yandere simulator. I think it would be interesting if you actually have to break back into the
school to retrieve students that have "fallen unconscious" and avoid the cops or other students.
Or make gathering information more interesting with a stalk rival and dispose of them [unnoticed]
There are just so many avenues that can be taken up.

  • Dev A - 9 years ago

Compromise. I don't want to over-work you too much with a bunch of coding. Just like slapping someone with stacks of paperwork and expecting them to do something. It will be fun if it was open-world but I just feel bad.

  • gaiaswill - 9 years ago

I like the grand vision, but I think it is too big for the game right now. You want the core "horror simulator" to be good first and foremost. Also I want the product to ship. Having a shipped product that is focused and mechanically successful will give you better credibility and resources to draw from, even if it's just to ask for more Patreon. In my opinion. such massive expansion of game scope is the kind of thing you save for the sequel.

However, I am all for adding environments, but I'm thinking more along the lines of Persona 3, with a few key locations selectable on a map. You would have your added environments to relieve boredom, but not have to worry about assets needed to fill the gaps between these locations. I'd rather have a focused approach with detailed important places and skip boring long corridors with nothing of interest.

  • Notice Me Senpai - 9 years ago

I think a open world for the Yandere simulator would be a great idea, and as for fans such as myself I would love to help out in anyway possibly.

  • Kaguraoneechan - 9 years ago

An open world would be very funny! ^_^ We can stalk other students in their house and make murders!

  • Hikari - 9 years ago

I'd love to see more areas for yandere sim, espacially some kind of mall where you could see some of the students after school or during the week end, or even maybe other supporting characters who could give you adventages during the school days. Please, make the best yandere simulator you can make, even if it has to take years, as long as i have acces to the testing builds or demos, I'm personnaly 100% ok with that.

  • PoDH - 9 years ago

Open world might be nice but I hate a game that is so big in term of memory. But, I agree that more places need to be add, how about make new place(3rd option) and ADD MONEY SYSTEM, like you can buy gift to boost your stats.

But dev don't push your self, I don't want you(?) to give up because you get tired of it

  • Ashes - 9 years ago

I think you should stick to a few environments like Yandere chan's basement. Just my opinion~ :b

  • Jacob - 9 years ago

I feel like the main draw for me is in how in depth the mechanics are, for instance perhaps one day having all the students have their own personality and dialogue that develops as you befriend them, and I feel things like this would be near impossible in an open world ...though events like school festivals and athletics competitions would help break up the tedium.

  • Your Name - 9 years ago

Make it a college that way you get the school experience, as well as the option to make elaborate plazas, dorms, shopping centers, titans, nuclear ,cardboard boxes, ect. But like any good anime/ story don't forget about the ending

  • cmx - 9 years ago

Small town just works perfectly with the idea. There is a senpai shrine but what if you have to fill it up? Things like murder and kidnapping shouldn't all take place at a high school. Dark alleys? Terraces that could be used to push people off as a suicide? You would rather just jump off a cliff than off a school rooftop.

  • Miya - 9 years ago

The game is not for dicking around. It's for killing and sabotaging your rivals. At least that's how I see it, and how others should see it. Nothing like fishing or gardening or large maps or anything like that. Maybe a konbini to get extra tools that might help the player out with serious gameplay, such as gifts for other classmates to increase reputation/wipes for blood if you don't want to retrieve the mop/alcohol wipes for cleaning murder weapons like scissors instead of doing away with them, so you can use them again at another point, and you can casually keep them around. Or senpai's house to find information about him that will help you win him over, like his preferences/personality. Or fashion stores to buy extra uniforms to keep in your locker for when yours gets bloodied. Just some ideas for if you decide to expand. Please, just nothing trivial.

  • Sonicrs - 9 years ago

You can buy lots of things In shops, however don't make it a huge town but instead a sparse town, so that there will be more space and a need for buses

I think you should make the game open world even if it means waiting longer for it to be released. I think making it open world would mean that it would add much more to try to eliminating rivals outside of school, like using what they do outside of school against them (maybe even make it easier for spreading rumors?) Open world, in my opinion, makes it great for making the quests a little more challenging, especially if there's some difficult rivals to deal with. Either way, open world or not, Yandere simulator wouldnt lose its value since the important thing is that we're having fun (coughcoughkillingpeoplecoughcough) in the game :3

I would love to donate, but a full open would sounds difficult, tiring, boring, and hard to make. However, just a high school gets boring. I suggest you add a few other places though. It is about taking out your rivals to be with senpai but, Yandere simulator has to be inside of school and outside. Most yanderes (including myself) are quite intelligent and know how to spread things and blame things. Study people, learn their traits all for your advantage. I do suggest an ABC option chat feature though if someone approches you. At the end of the game i'd love to see yandere chan confess to senpai and him saying yes. Or if your reputation is to low and people know you're a murderer senpai should say. No! You're a psycho bitch and everyone knows it. Then Yandere chan chops of his hand and then says, "i can hold it forever!" Then proceeds to literally take his heart. Just an idea i thought it'd be kinda fun.

Open world town does sound like a great addition to the game although i think you should compromise with a smaller additional environment such as a dorm where all or most of the students live, that way the players have more opportunities to spy, kill, spread rumors, or whatever while keeping the size of the new environment rather small. Also an entire town may not add much to the game because of how public it is, though i guess if you made enough features like messing up dates senpai has with other girls, hiring thugs to attack your rivals, or a shop where you can buy things to help with murders or vanity items without needing panty shots i could see a small town being a great addition. Basically what I'm saying is that the game could use more space than just the school but the space has to be useful for the player or else they'll just stick to eliminating rivals in the school. Again best thing I can think of is a dorm where you can make other students look like they OD'd on drugs or slipped and hit their heads in the showers, plus it gives the player a place where rivals will be before and after school.

I'd like to see few more areas. Say, maybe Yandere-chan could hear Senpai making plans to go to the park with his friends, and the same way that she can go to the basement or to school in the morning, she could choose to go to the park or a food shop or something like that to stalk him - it'd also make more meaning to the "Senpai Shrine". Heck, it could be an opportunity for her to raise her reputation by going out with friends/"friends" and make herself well known as a fun and good person or something. But either way, that is my logic. :3

I personally think that Yandere Sim would benefit from having a small town environment. Having a place to explore during the days in which Yandere doesn't have school could be fun, and maybe (if need be) would allow her to stock up on supplies. This could also be a way to stalk rivals and Senpai outside of school.

Open world sound tempting... but as I can see of YandereSimulator, this game should not be open world, because I want you to focus on the mechanic of this game. Not many game are like this in the market, and I don't want it to be the same thing out there. If people want to play an open world game, then play GTA, for me this game is original and it's really worth playing. In short, NO to open world, I like this game on how it is, and it would be interesting if you add more environment around the school like soccer field or swimming pool.

  • Chris - 9 years ago

Open world would be nice, however my only concern is if you are able to fully create one. It would take a long time to just create one but honestly, to create one like a sandbox game would require too much resources. I'd think a good idea would be to start a kickstarter possibly and then perhaps put this in as a stretch goal to at least ensure that you have enough budget. However I don't really know much about this so just take it as a grain of salt

  • Arisa - 9 years ago

I personally would LOVE it to be open world, but isn't this too much work for one man? What if this ends up in development hell or you never get to release it cause it was too ambitious? All Im saying is, dont bite off more than you can chew.

  • James - 9 years ago

I'm only voting open world because I have complete faith that you can deliver. But plan it out smart, so you can section things off if it gets to big to work with. But having new meeting locations and places to dump bodies would be pretty amazing.

  • fugachan - 9 years ago

I think just add few of location like senpai house or park for the current development..
For the open world.,it should be for the sequel of yandere simulator..open world will bring more way of stalking n killing..I think everyone will love if yandere sim get next sequel..

I think the with an open world game you could actually be able to get more in depth with the murders. You would be able to purchase things that could be prohibited at school (let's say a pack of cigarettes) and be able to bribe people with them. Maybe get a certain item of piece of information you could trade it for a few free panty shots or for a favor from a fellow student. But if the favor you ask is above or at trading value there is a chance the student will reject it or will backstab you in the end because of it. You would also be able to stalk that week's target, with a small town, to figure out the best course of action when killing her so that you don't get caught. You could also add the internet and social media into the game where Yandere-chan can go on the person's social media account(s) and figure out more about the person or where they are so you can go there and stalk them more in real life. Adding to a stalking feature, if you find out enough about a person by stalking them, or purchasing the information from Info-chan with panty shots, you could find out where the target lives and kill her there rather than at school or go there for other purposes. So, adding a small town I think would be worth it for the player's experience in the long run. But ot wpuld also take a lot of work to complete.

  • Ike - 9 years ago

That would be great! Maybe give them as gifts? Also you would have quests Yundere could do for cash!

  • Aaniese - 9 years ago

I'd be happy to wait longer, and donate if it meant that we had a small town that gave us more ways to eliminate the competition. First thing that comes to mind is following a girl to her house to either kill her or find out more information.

  • Tyson Ngo - 9 years ago

If yandere simulator would let you leave the school to a little town i would most likely stalk senpai and follow him home >:)

  • Finian - 9 years ago

I really like the idea of adding new elements, like maybe a mall or shopping center; even senpai's house. But to get down to the nitty gritty, she's not your average high school student. She's crazy, obsessed with a boy from school and honestly probably wouldn't spend time doing "quests"/"favors" for other people. She would be trying to sabotage these people into doing what she wants. Just my opinion. :)

  • Hana - 9 years ago

    Open-World would be awesome!!!

  • DAWVS - 9 years ago

In the small town, you should add shops that sells weapons and maybe even panties... and a hawker centre where you can buy foods for the students and teachers. Imagine you can poison them with it.

  • Mizu - 9 years ago

I think you should add a small town. What about instead of killing students only at school but also in the town. That would be an easier way for yandere-chan to not be caught.

  • Ike - 9 years ago

YOU HAVE DONE AMAZING WITH THE GAME SO FAR!:-) I can wait for it to come out with the town, even if it 6 months. Keep up the good progress! I should go to sleep though since its 2:20 a.m.!

  • Ant - 9 years ago

Honestly I wouldn't mind if you just added an option to go to stores to buy things to help with either wooing senpai or to kill the competition... But if everyone wants an open world game that'd be fine as well.. Love your work though and I really hope people will appreciate it as much as I do for all the work your doing for us! Yanderesimulator is truly a unique game!!!

  • Senpai - 9 years ago

Compromise. As good as an open world game will be, you wont be able to fully indepth make the game... indepth. In natsuiro, the npcs... feel like npcs. I feel like there be a reason by senpai is so attractive. The player should love him, (not as much as yandere-chan lol), but understand why yandere-chan loves him so much. You probably wont get this indepth with an open world.

  • Brianne - 9 years ago

Expanding yandere sim to be an open world environment would open up so many new possibilities for game play! You could stalk senpai/ your rivals all through out town, and it would really open up a lot of ways to get rid of your rivals. I would love to see yandere sim become and open world game, and I for one would personally donate money to see that happen!

  • Jada - 9 years ago

Open-world games are awesome! Yandere would be perfect for this Genre.

  • Books - 9 years ago

I think a completely open world might be too much if you dont have the main components for main part of the game finished yet. You might just want to try a neighborhood with Yandere-chan and the NCP's houses until you get the game how you want it

  • Bruh - 9 years ago

An open world which can also give use to finding out more secrets
I even thought of an idea adding more use to the with phones for blackmail in the game with an open world environment
But, you can take all the time you need, even if it means releasing during Christmas or later, take all the time you need. And plz don't be afraid we won't judge

  • Hart Eversteyn - 9 years ago

I love open world games but I wouldn't like that becoming Yandere SIM. I think maybe a neighborhood and a store should be added so you can buy certain items/things from the store and stalk others in their homes for things such as info, sabotaging them, etcetera.

  • nasexsavkifs - 9 years ago

I think having it as an open world game would be great because you can still mix stealth into it. You could even have Yandere-chan stalk Sempaiwhen he goes to places. Some post-game side quests would be a great feature as well.

  • lopz - 9 years ago

Just finish the entire school part before you start with the open world, and have it as a free or paid DLC

  • Puffenstuff - 9 years ago

No. This is the definition of scope creep. It is the bane of every project everywhere. Get the core mechanics and gameplay working well first, then consider adding new areas.

  • K - 9 years ago

I will wait and I will donate (when I start earning money which is later this year I should hope). I have actually thought about the game getting boring and have become interested in open world. Stalking senpai to his house? Listening to senpai's friends talking somewhere? Stalking that senpai stealing hussie home to off her... No matter what Dev does I'll be happy

  • linachan23 - 9 years ago

you can make it an open world game! that makes yandere chan can do prety much ANYTHING!
you can stalk senpai, maybe search some place to kill someone, or hang out with someone then kill them yep pretty much everything

  • Leon - 9 years ago

I think you should consider something akin to Persona 4 and have set pieces of importance where Yandere-chan can travel to. My idea is to have the world semi-open in a sense. Places like Yandere-chan's home, Senpai's home (inside and outside), the school, and maybe a social gathering area (like a shopping district) where Senpai might be found from time to time.

  • Metsuya - 9 years ago

I think compromise would be best. I'd love it if stalking were to be included in this game- that is, stalking senpai. :)

  • Tomoko - 9 years ago

I think you should make it an open world , maybe that way we we could actually stalk senpai while he goes places.

  • MagicalBoy - 9 years ago

An open world Yandere Simulator sounds amazing! You should release this as a console port of you can, but wow...If doing an open world is too much trouble, then try expanding the school with a little more detail. Either way, this has potential to be a great game!

  • meow - 9 years ago

open world would be great, but I think it'd be better as something to do AFTER you have the main base of the game completed (or close enough to how you want it), so then you won't have to complete and work on both the school and the open world at the same time

  • BITCH I LOVE YANDERE SIM I LOVE KILLING PEOPLE! - 9 years ago

Yes! Comprise. What can you do while outside of the school? Stalk Senpai in his house? I think, that it shouldn't be open world. Just a few more areas outside of the school will work.

  • JamesR - 9 years ago

Stalking Senpai to his house without being discovered would be nice lol

  • Sid - 9 years ago

I would totally help fund this if I had the money, even if it meant waiting another year after the original release date.

  • Kalu - 9 years ago

I think you should expand it to be an open-world, but if that cant be done for budget reasons or something, atleast add some other environments.

  • Nero - 9 years ago

open world games are my favorite kind of game. i would donate as much as i could to make this happen
