  • Emo-Rej Legisma - 14 years ago

I have a question lang po. puwede bang magkaroon ng guns ang mga us citizen? we need them lalo di ba? thanks po. sana wag naman i-ban ang guns. we need to be able to defend ourselves. di natin maasahan lagi ang mga polis.

  • Robin Talosig - 14 years ago

yes provided that every individual shall be protected and be given assurance of their lives against criminals. baguhin n ntin ang ratio of number of police/individual 1police is to 1civilian. can you promise us PNP? khit di na kami mgddla ng sariling weapon. cguro nman secured n kami pag gnun

  • Robin Talosig - 14 years ago

walang criminal ang magddla ng legally issued n baril means tagilid ang mga my mga legal issued weapon. pano mapprotektahan ang sarili sa mssmang loob na my hawak na clorum weapon? mkakatulong ang cibilyan sa PNP kung papayagan cla mgdla ng armas sa labas. dahil hindi nmn kaya ng PNP na protektahan ang lahat lalo n sa gabi, it must have an exemption, retired PNP at mga bsnessmens member of the bar as well must be permitted to carry firearm outside.

if only I can vote 80 million times for all Filipinos under the mercy of criminal elements and helpless cops........

  • Francois French - 14 years ago

NO. Hindi solution ang gun-ban. Dapat improve yung police visibility at foot patrols pati random check-points.

a gunless society is just a myth! controlling or banning gun ownership just affects the legit gun owners. the police or even the gov't cannot control the proliferation of unlicensed firearms whch are usually owned by bad guys. Verzosa and Pacheco are in favor of gun ban bec they can afford bodyguards to protect them. magpakatotoo at magpakalalake kayo!!!

  • Vincent Marc Roca - 15 years ago

    Absolutely NO!!!

  • Jade Monteclaro - 15 years ago

NO to a "PERMANENT GUN BAN"..leo's are great, but when seconds count they are just minutes away....that's the reality.YES to a "CRIME FREE SOCIETY"..A FREE MAN OUGHT TO BE ARMED LEGALLY...

  • Michael Tabadero - 15 years ago

NO! to gun ban

YES! to double tap para sa Bad Guys!

  • Mario Sunit - 15 years ago

If you ban legal gun ownership by responsible family men and women who only wish to protect their lives and their families, you take away a fundamental human right to self preservation. You then become anti-human life.

  • Googie Allarey - 15 years ago

    A gunless society?
    Yes, if and when….
    •All goons are gone.
•Law and order are in order.
    •Justice is just.
•Leftists, rightists, centrists have turned pacifists.
•Self-righteous men no longer kill in God’s name.
If not, ‘sorry the more I need a gun to help improve my chances of survival.

  • Edgardo Roel Co - 15 years ago

  • Rey John Cuaresma - 15 years ago

    a big NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  • Jovy Macaspac - 15 years ago

I would vote yes if our police forces were effective and efficient. Let's face it, our police aren't there to prevent crime, they're just there to pick up the pieces!
Imagine, one acquaintance said he tried calling the police once when he saw several men climbing a neighbor's yard and the person who answered the call said it wasn't his jurisdiction!!

  • Lito Raquino - 15 years ago

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! TO TOTAL GUN BAN.. IF GUNS ARE OUTLAWED ONLY CRIMINALS HAVE GUNS...Paano pa makalaban ang mga civilians sa mga criminal at sa mga corrupt na pulis...

  • Deo Dax Cordova - 15 years ago

permanent gunban only applies to those who follow the law

  • Bing Torres - 15 years ago

A permanent gun ban??? Crazy idea!!! How else do we protect ourselves from those illegal gun owners?

  • Audrey Hidalgo - 15 years ago

Guns made us free and have kept us free, one side says; the other side rejects guns as instruments of domination, lawlessness, and terrorism. The conflict rages on because both sides are right..gun is not an argument. its how we implement the laws.......... mga pulis nababasa nyu ba ito ha!... now yer trying to pull the trigger towards lawful people who are responsible enough to carry guns???

Perhaps the greatest obstacle to acquiring an understanding of the facts surrounding the gun

control debate is the firm conviction of many on both sides that most of the critical facts are self-evident. Is it not indisputable that the availability of guns increases the homicide rate and plays a large role in the philippines ( riding in tandem and guns for hire) high violence rates? How could the possession and use of deadly weapons NOT raise the murder rate? Alternatively, is it not obvious that widespread private gun ownership deters crime? The debaters begin with premises that are so thoroughly taken for granted that they never consider evaluating them.

    Big NO to permanent GunBan.

  • Jean Paul Itulid Igharas - 15 years ago

Its a case to case basis. If there's really a necessity for an individual to carry a gun then he may do so provided that he complies with all the requisites needed to secure a firearm. The standards must be high for all those applying for a license and the strictest of standards must be implemented to weed out all those irresponsible individuals who does not know how to manage their firearms and leave those individuals who need protection and who's lives are at risk if they don't secure one.

  • Ryann Gan - 15 years ago

NO TO GUN BAN!

  • Donald Mejia - 15 years ago

gun ban is only applicable sa legally law abiding citizens not to carnappers, holduppers, private armies, gun for hire, and other criminal elements couldn't care less in fact mas magiging armed to the teeth pa sila. saka would this also mean that inutil ang government in keeping the peace and security ng bansa kung ganito?

  • Roger Tamayo - 15 years ago

total gun ban = only law enforcement officers and CRIMINALS will carry fire arms?????????????????????

  • Kylla Freeztylah - 15 years ago

Tsaka na pag yung mga nagtutulak ng total gun ban can travel without their security escorts.

  • Patrick Ella - 15 years ago

Ask your self: do you really want the cops and the military to have the monopoly on the use and ownership of guns in this country? Do you even trust them? Do you realize that incidence of theft will increase once guns are banned? The UK has this very problem today due to strict gun laws yet Texas, New Hampshire and Arizona doesn't because they have strong pro-gun laws. It is a question of freedom.

  • Bobby Veneracion - 15 years ago

NO!!!! JUST LOOK ON THE STATISTICS, FAs involved in crimes are unlicensed "WHEN GUNS ARE OUTLAWED, ONLY OUTLAWS WILL HAVE GUNS ,,,,

  • Warren Ball - 15 years ago

some civilians carry guns in public because it’s a status symbol, but then it’s the fault of the PNP that these irresponsible people were given permits and even licenses.

And the PNP now blames us, who are responsible licensed gun owners, for its mistake and ineptitude?

  • Warren Ball - 15 years ago

During Sen. Ping Lacson’s watch at the PNP and PAOCTF, civilians were disallowed to carry guns outside their homes.

Why? Because the rogues at the PNP and PAOCTF didn’t want their civilian victims to fight back.

We must remember that the guys who abducted and killed publicist Bubby Dacer and driver Emmanuel Corbito were from the PAOCTF.

Rogue regimes, such as that of Erap’s, don’t allow civilians to own guns because an unarmed citizenry is easy to control and cow.

The PNP blindsided the REAL PRO_GUN organization in their Sarsuela/Moro-Moro Gun Summit. Not an unheard of tactic and capability of the PNP. You get invited to a game, you play fair yet you wonder why you can't win. It's because such game was fixed before you even got there. nice one score na naman si General Verso...za. Sip-sip na Kopal pa. No to gun ban.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms, disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve to encourage rather than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

A walkout by PROGUN marred today the PNP Gun Summit 2010. Initially, PROGUN was not given a slot as speaker in the "insights" portion of the Summit wherein our Opposing party, the Gunless Society was allowed to give a lengthy speech through Nandy Pacheco. Instead, the PNP assigned Mr. Christopher "Pery" Punla to speak as leader of an organization called, "Total Pro-Gun Confederation". This organization has not even been organized yet and Mr. Punla re-appeared on the gun scene only a week ago stating that he was organizing GENCOP.

Claiming to be Progun, Punla gave a satirical speech which appeared to favor gun ownership, but in reality it was a comic act critical of gun owners and showing that we were unstable gun nuts. He claimed that he wanted to push for the right to openly carry assault rifles and mount them on gun owners cars, and roofs of houses. He likewise spoke in favor of the right to own and carry publicly crew-served weapons such as belt-fed machine guns and bomb launchers. Expectedly, the crowd began laughing at what appeared to be a clown giving a stand up comedy routine. Since we felt that this type of talk sent the wrong signal to the public that legitimate gun owners were irresponsible, and that Punla was using our name Progun (without authorization) for purposes making fun of gun owners, the PROGUN contingent decided to walk out of the Summit hall at mid-day.

We were also wondering why this unorganized 1 week old organization was given a speaking slot at the Summit, and whether or not this was planned deliberately using a planted trojan horse as a smoke screen to the anti-gun ban efforts of PROGUN.

The name PROGUN is a registered trademark in the Intellectual Property Office (IPO). Due to Punla's unlawful use of our PROGUN trademark in a manner which discredits and disgraces gun owners, we disavow everything that Punla said or will say, using the name "progun". He is likewise sternly warned that publicly using a registered trademark without license or authority from the registered owner constitutes infringement of a trademark which is a criminal offense. This is especially so, if the trademark is used in a confusingly similar manner which damages the goodwill and reputation of the registered owner.

We were hoping that the Summit would provide a venue for serious discussion on gun issues which have become of public interest. Chief jesus Verzosa and a number of top PNP Brass were present, thus giving an opportunity for a serious dialogue. However, the most vocal stakeholders and groups were never even allowed to speak and/or participate in the discussions, and the whole proceedings turned out to be on big expensive anti-gun press release.

Last year, PROGUN was the cluster head and presenter of Cluster "D" of the Summit. This year, although we noted that the event was not as well organized and participants were about half of those who attended last year, we endeavored in good faith to participate in what we expected to be a bona fide gun issues discussion. Instead, we were gravely disappointed.

Do we have to be a rocket scientists to figure out that criminals do not obey gun bans?

The PNP has this illusion that crimes went down because of the gun ban. Assuming that the crime did go down (and I'm not acceeding that it did), are they telling me that the CPNP is so charismatic that by merely announcing the gun ban on national TV and print, the criminals suddenly said "oh no, I can't carry my firearms anymore and commit crimes because I'm such a law-abiding criminal."?

  • Bal Madahan - 15 years ago

This is a big no.. Gun ban only affects legitimate and responsible gun owners, can the Law Enforcement Agencies totally disarm criminals? The answer is another big NO.. Those caught violating the current gun ban are police and military personnels who are said to be off duty, some are airsofters, Now let's ask General Versoza what percent of these caught gunban violaters are the real criminals? Do criminals follow your gun ban? Does your gunban really solved problems on illegal firearms?

    GUN THE BAN......

  • Analiza Calicdan Garcia - 15 years ago

A BIG NO!!! and a VERY SOUNDING NO!!!

they always say na bumaba ang crime rate due to gunban this election period, yes indeed bumaba SIGURO, pero not because of the gunban chief, but because of the checkpoints at almost every corners, but don't you ever think that when the gunban started, most of the uniformed mens get captured, why this is because they carry such TO PROTECT THEMSELVES, because they know that they are very vulnerable to an individual who were angry to them, no criminal follows this ruling (gunban)...nabaon na sa limot ang isang madre na HINOLDAP during the gunban period, ang masaklap, pinatay pa nila ang madre...im not saying that this nun must carry a ahndgun to protect herself, but can't you see, that devil citizen was carrying a gun, GUNBAN pa...maghihintay pa ba tayo na may mamatay uli na isang law abiding citizan bago tayo mamulat...don't say police are out there to protect us, dahil ang mga mobile ay walang enough gas allocation to roam around and check the city...

  • Linda Chico - 15 years ago

When did criminals start obeying the gun laws? Why does anyone still think disarming the honest citizens of a country favors anyone other criminals and thugs? Where has this EVER worked? Where has crime decreased and the law abiding citizen been safer after guns were taken from citizens?

  • Roda Mae - 15 years ago

  • Berny Vega - 15 years ago

    PS:

The other day this PNP gen in an interview, told the media that since the election gun ban was implemented, there was a definite drop in the country's crime rate. Really now. Hmmm.... Then how is it that in that same tv news, was feature the killing of a retired colonel and several others were wounded in bacoor cavite. shot by members of that municipality's police in broad day light, on a busy road. Another was an incident in lanao, comelec declared a failure of elections, when on may 10, a shoot out between supporters of opposing candidates erupted in a polling stn.

May be this general was right. There was a drop in "REPORTED" crime, cause the criminals were busy killing retired colonels or killing each other. After all, kanino ka magsusumbong kung walang tao sa police stn kasi abala sa masamang gawain.

    General PULIS PATOLA! gumusing ka!

  • Berny Vega - 15 years ago

check out new york city's crime rate. they have one of the most restrictive anti gun laws in the us. now check with finland, norway, canada, israel. these places not onli permit gun ownership, but some actually issues their peoples assault rifles. what do you think their crime rate is compared to new york?
let put it this way; CITIZEN + GUN = DEAD CRIMINAL/s.
as for those "matatapang" kc may baril; a wise man once said " an armed society is a polite society".

  • Vincent Marc Roca - 15 years ago

Add a comment...permanent gun ban is not the answer to increasing criminality here in the philippines. with increasing population, our armed forces (PNP/AFP) cannot protect us all. this is a fact. as law-abiding citizens, we should not be banned for carrying legal/registered firearms for self-preservation and protect our families and properties against criminals.
