This is my first posting on this site for one reason only - the opinions I have read have bordered on racism, prejudice, classism, and even sexism. However, every one has opinions and I must respect that if I am to believe in our country's ideals of freedom, justice, and equality for all. I was not a fan of George Bush but he was my PRESIDENT. He made good decisions and he made questionable ones. He made policies that I agreed with and ones that I didn't. PRESIDENT Obama is just that - OUR PRESIDENT. One of the great things about our country is the majority rule and our right to COMPLAIN when things do not go as we want them to. There are over 300 million people in this country. It is impossible for anyone to please everybody. For example, I have a hard time getting a 50% approval rating as a supervisor at a 50 employee site. Even though I am just doing my job, if the company policies that I enforce interferes with someones right to do as they please then I am an !@#$%. People want what they want and it appears to be human nature to exhibit some sort of selfishness - some more so than others. I am an Obama supporter as well as an American that happens to have African ancestors. I supported President Obama because I wanted to see our country take a different path than it had over the last 8 years. Change can be good and it can be bad but there will always be those that will rebel against it. It is one of the great freedoms in our country. However, if some of the changes that President Obama proposes do not benefit me or goes against MY values, I have to understand that I AM not the only one in this country. I have to live with it like I did with President's George Bush's policies and procedures. Kay, Bob, and Mary Allen thank you for having an opinion and expressing it. I do not know why President Obama is closing Guantanamo Bay. If he didn't there would be those complaining about human rights and if he didn't there would be those complaining about "where will they go." I don't know why the President may/may not have involved himself in the firing of GM's president. If he did nothing there would be those that complained that the head of that company was responsible for it's problems and those that feel that the head of the company was not responsible. And even though President Obama is just continuing the bail-outs started under President Bush, I do not know why he is continuing to bail out companies. But there will be those who are grateful for the actions taken to save jobs and those that will complain about there tax dollars being spent to save those jobs. The way it seems is you are da**** if you do and da**** if you don't. Being in a management position has helped me to see that there are alwayse two sides to every action and that you have to make decisions based on facts much deeper than individual preferences. So let's do what most good decent citizens have done for decades in this country - complain about what WE don't like but understand the world does not revolve around us.

Bob, how dumb can you get? Obama is tearing this country down. Bailing out all the high corporate "Theives". How dare you blame Bush for this? The Democrats have had control in the house for years now. Are you blaming Bush for the Bail Out money that has put this country so far in debt that we will never recover? I honestly have never heard of Obama until the election, and doubt many Americans have. Can you explain to me how an "unknown
" man come out of the wood work and be voted in for president? I don't know about you, but it sounds pretty fishy to me. I also hate the way the media is just hanging on Obama's every word. Who cares? I have lost all respect for any one that voted for this loser, and that means more than half of the citizens of this country. You voted him in, now live with the consequences!

O dearest Mary Ellen, our Lady of Redneckiness: if you don't mind, I'll refrain from sticking an exclamation point behind most of my sentences. Let's face it; you're just another sore Republican loser whose days are rapidly declining. What you have to say is as dumb as a bag of hammers. So gather up all your guns and religious torches so you can fend off the 'the Commies are coming, the Commies are coming'. Please try to keep the homosexuals from taking over the country like the other minorities have done (I've watched that for 60 years) and destroying the remainder of our phony 'fine family values'. Please help to 'stem' the fresh incoming tide of science research lest we all become cured of the devasting diseases that only stem cell research can bring. Enjoy the atmosphere of cultural, intellectual and financial bankruptcy that the past eight years that the moronic Bush created - while you can. Chairman Mao would've loved people like you. IDIOT! Whoops, I used the '!', didn't I? Darn...

Obama has spent his first 100 days increasing our national debt by billions of dollars (many states have made it illegal not to have a balanced budget - what about the federal government?), totally flip-flopping on all his campaign promises, offering friendship to our enemies (at what cost?), and making wishy-washy plans for Iraq withdrawal that may or may not happen as he says. Obama gets angry over whatever Americans are angry about, but doesNOTHING constructive - just talking and making empty promises again. He wasted taxpayers' money on a senseless trip to Colorado just to sign a stimulus bill to spend BILLIONS more of taxpayers' money (why didn't he save money by signing it in DC?). He's STILL campaigning! Trying to smooth us over with charm, yet continually deceving us as to what his REAL plans and REAL motives are. He's taking our country backwards real fast - digging us a hole so deep we will never get out. And he's slyly taking away our freedoms, one by one. He's taking all the power he can get while he's in our good graces to get it. Freedom of speech - why should HE tell us who we can or cannot listen to on the radio? He's taking away my freedom of religion by mandating public funds to projects that go against my religion - and against my conscience (abortion, stem cell research, abortion pill to children under 18 - what about parents' rights and responsibilities towards their child?) Executive Orders! I didn't get to vote on it! He's wrongfully used his power to demand the corporate firing of their head (GM President) - an American President should NEVER have the right to interfere in the operation of a public corporation like that! He's choking American freedoms to death, and wooing countries/leaders who have a proven record against freedom! He's going to close Guantanamo Bay prison - why? What's he going to do with the prisoners - no other country wants them! (I wonder why they don't! What does the President know that the American people do not?) If it's really that bad, why doesn't he just REFORM it instead??? No, he's continually making political statements, not being constructive, but destructive. "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain..." says the Bible. And I believe it. Our country will look and act just like the Soviet Union before he's done with us.
