My company which I work for constantly asks us to work live, the master electrician often says there are situations when we are unable to lock out the breaker. I once refused to work live and was sent home for the day with a call following. " If you refuse to work live again you will no longer be employed at this company " It is quite hard to find an apprenticeship so I do whatever they ask of me knowing how dangerous it is. We work on 120 and 347 live with no FR clothing. I don't know what to do... I know the risks, I have been looking for another company to employ me as an apprentice but am unable to find one hiring. What can I do in this type of situation??

Your website has great impact. It's shocking to think how often electricians and non-electricians make certain mistakes. I've been a 353 member almost 10 years. To your poll my response would have been rarely. When I have been expected to, it has been by misguided and unknowing people who think think because I'm an electrician I could do that, I quickly correct them. Thank You for connecting this website with the J.A.C. website. I will pass on this information to others.
