Bang the Drum Slowly is a very good, overlooked baseball movie from 1973. Robert De Niro (YES, a young Robert De Niro) gives a great performance as a dim-witted catcher with a terminal illness. The baseball scenes are just so-so, but the scenes away from the field are excellent.
