I’m a home builder and spend all day signing stuff, taking notes, and drawing details. I already rely heavily on my iPad with pencil for most of these tasks but would love the convenience of use Inc it on my phone

I would love to be able to create handwritten notes, in reflective moments, on iPhone. Stimulates creativity.

Yes, of course! I’m waiting since the first moment I use it on the iPad pro to be able to use it on my iPhone AND on my MacBook too! Even I would say, it’s much more important to have it on my MacBook for handwriting notes or quick sketches during lessons, trainings or meetings!

the Pencil is great on the ipad , but on an iPhone? I hope apple releases an iStylus for iphones because it is going to look very very very DORKY if they use the current pencil with phones.

Yes absolutely. I have one already I use with my iPad Pro daily and I constantly find myself trying to use it with my iPhone X. Since I'll be trading up for the new 6.5" in Sept it's a no brainer. I'd use it all the time... for notes, editing photos, design and coloring apps and games at night.

I always find myself trying to use my pencil on the iPhone next to my iPad (I use both simultaneously). If the pen only works with one device though, and can’t be paired with both, I would never pair my pencil with the phone.

Never! The iPad is a working device and since I use the pro version with the pencil there is no way that I would shift professional work from the iPad to a phone. The phone becomes less relevant for me because the major work is done on the iPad. If I need to consider buying a new phone I would want as small as possible with a premium camera. No other apps need to be on the phone other than the preloaded ones. Work is done on the work device.

    does it vibrate?

I want to be able to pull out the phone and pencil and start writing a note immediately just like a memo pad. Auto wake, open notes app as soon as pencil touches it.

If the stylus comes as a separate tool that requires a special case or a string in order to keep up with it, I’m not buying it. Apple has watched Samsung attempt to perfect the S Pen for years. They have no other option but to get it right on the first try. No one else has even attempted to compete with the Note series. If they have, they had 0 sales I’m sure.

The only time I think the Apple Pencil would be useful to me would be during editing photos on Adobe Lightroom Mobile. I think that would work really well. But no other use in my opinion.

It’s a no-brainer, IMO. What would make this a sure fire sell, is a way to quickly attach and detach the pen from the iPhone, in some easy, elligant way so that it would be difficult to loose.

For five minutes after I took it out of the box. Then practicality would set in upon realizing that I have no desire to carry it on the go when fingers and thumbs are already attached to my body, for far more convenient use.

It definitely wouldn't take away from the device. Those that do not want to use it wouldn't have to. Since I already own an iPad Pro 12.9 and an Apple Pencil I definitely could think of a few ways where I might what to use the pencil on my iPhone at home. That said I certainly don't think anyone would carry one around with them, myself included. Definitely don't see it happening though.

  • Yume - 6 years ago

Yes, but only if it also came with a bitchin' Apple Newton case.

I would definitely use if they privide me other functionalities as well better app integrations which is not as the news suggest. S pen rocks, it makes phone 50 times more functional.

For serious note-taking I use my iPad with Smart Keyboard. For quick notes on my phone the software keyboard is more than adequate. Even on the phone I can type more quickly than I can write legibly.

  • Connor Bell - 6 years ago

I wouldn't. It's too big to carry around and too expensive for occasional use. I would only use it if it was like the Samsung Note ones

  • Peter Grant - 6 years ago

To all the people who say no. Have you never put a small notebook in your pocket for notes?

  • Neil - 6 years ago

I came to the IPhone from the Note 4 and used the stylus on a regular basis for notes, doodles, colouring and some photo tweaks and found it very useful.

I’d love to see a variation of the Apple Pencil for the IPhone, mane a smaller version and one that takes some of the benefits from the Note 9 - such as being able to use it to remotely take photos.

Yes been wanting a Pencil and a PKB since my treo died. Nobody has come close. Old School don't you know.

  • Rocky - 6 years ago

Hell No! I don’t want to and never. Using it on iPad and Mac book make sense but not phones.

  • Andrew Ford - 6 years ago

I would use the Apple Pencil with my schooling, it would help me take notes. However, I don’t see me using on a day-to-day basis.

  • Gary - 6 years ago

Bought a pencil when I got my 10.5 iPad Pro. Never use it. Can see how it might be useful, but not on an iPhone.

  • Robert Perry - 6 years ago

Yes, Yes. Often while doing something on my iPad Pro I need to do a quick look on my iPhone. I usually end up tapping frantically on the phone with my pencil. I would love to have an iPhone that reacts to an apple pencil.

  • JNGold - 6 years ago

Nope, nope, and more nope. I use notes apps extensively on all my iOS devices (iPhone and iPad) and for the iPhone I am more than happy to just use the kb for quick notes on my iPhone. I use the Apple Pencil exclusively with my iPad and that's all I need it for. I don't want to carry around an extra device just for something I would rarely use. And yes, even for something like signatures, my finger is more than adaquate for a digital signature.

  • Brian - 6 years ago

It better be the most intuitive thing ever. Other than that I really see no point

  • Rex - 6 years ago

No, a big clunky Stylus Steve Jobs not be happy. I would just buy a Samsung Note.

  • Kenzie - 6 years ago

If the pencil worked comparably to how the SPen functions with Samsung's Note products, I would definitely go back to iPhone! Include live messages. :)

  • Patricia Finck - 6 years ago

Just think of all the times you need to give a signature. It would be nicer to use the pen than your finger. It would also be great tool for the Notes app. I would love to be able to use the pen with my iPhone!
