Does stopping traffic for five or fewer minutes on an interstate highway send a message you support?

I participated! I agree with everyone that has stated we got attention! Do NOT believe it was negative at all. We only made a small statement! #meetrealtruckers #50strong #realdeal

At some point in time, we all have to come to the realization that cupcakes and sing along songs don't work. The middle fingers that everyone is getting their panties all up in a bunch over was directed at the officials who keep lying to us and ignoring us

Shuting down for 3 to 5 min is like a traffic jam...the interstates needs to be shut down for days an let the people see the message them....the ones outside of what we do don't. I really don't think that sends a message that does not do nothing but if I ever see I will participate I think all drivers Nationwide need to do a 48 hour on 72-hour do not move your truck that was your Congress and all these liberals trucks move America leave us alone I could deal with Eld but the speed limiters 30 minute break no leeway on our time is all Bs we need to take a stand as drivers

I dare say the ones opposed to these actions, haven't been in or around trucking very long. We've been talking for years. And I'm talking more than the 25+ years I've been driving and the years my father and uncles and cousins before me. Time for talking is passed. Good for these people who has taken the time to go to D.C. time from their businesses to speak for a lot of drivers and O/Os . The ones who are just going along keep believing what your being told. Your making less now than we did years ago and out longer to do it. To the " thugs" keep on doing what needs done.

Many of those in the trucking industry understand that a three day shutdown by all the small trucking companies would cripple this country. Almost everything arrives by truck...therefore, America's truck drivers should be treated as the hard working and courageous people they are. These brave people work far more than a forty hour week and many are away from their families for weeks at a time. Their compensation for these absences and hours is far from fair for the responsibilities they shoulder. The general public is mostly unaware of how this industry operates...including our elected officials. Neither the Democrats or Republicans have worked for them...OR the American populous for many decades. The only true way to make a great change for the good of all is to vote...vote them out and impose term limits for ALL elected officials.

    Shutdown!!

  • Bonnie kelly - 6 years ago

Yes, I support a shutdown 100% We have been to DC many times, we have spoken to many congressmen, FMCSA, Homeland Security, DOT, etc, we have made many phone calls, we have sent many emails, if any of you think talking is going to work you are as clueless as DC. Traffic came to a stop for less than 5 min. It was brought to a stop following a slow roll. The ramps were left open, there were spotters on the CB watching for Ememgemcy vehicles. It was not meant to shut down the country, which it did not! It was meant to show that in a matter of hours/days that this nation can come to a halt. Washington, DC needs to step up and help the truckers. The ATA Does NOT represent us who have small trucking companies. The ELD should be a choice, HOS needs changes, training requirements need to be at a higher standard, parking issues need resolved. The regulations implemented upon us are not safe for anyone!

Really Tyler?? The stopping on the highway got attention. Good or bad, at least they are talking about the issues. AND it has garnered LOTS of recruits to the grassroots cause.

Whatever good they might have accomplished in D.C. was totally thrown down the drain with the stupidest stunt anyone could have done I fully agree with Mike Vandermallie charges should be filed

Adminstaror Ray Martinez is asking questions and listening to the answers. I went to GBATS and spoke to him. He's listening. Why do we want to pee in our Cheerios now?

  • Mike Brown - 6 years ago

We did not let bully tactics effect the Supreme Court confirmation. Most truckers I know would go along and believe in it.

Why should we believe that bully tactics will work in the discussion of hours of service? Does anyone think that regulators will make hours of service decisions based on a group of thugs who stopped traffic on the beltway for five minutes. This action only serves to darken the image of trucking in America. The only way to deal with regulators is to deal from where they are. Where they are is in offices and their decision is based on factual evedance and input from the industry and others effected by the industry.

Joe Denney was the one giving the finger in the middle of the interstate, too bad this movement associates it self with such people. What good they have done is overshadowed by the actions of one troublemaker.

  • Dennis Musselman - 6 years ago

Great idea! Stop traffic! Great way to get the public on your side!

  • Mike vandermallie - 6 years ago

These idiots should have charges brought against them
