This is ridiculous for any of the reasons mentioned in the other comments but also because we have so many homeless people in our community. Imagine how many shelters can be built with $700M. Imagine the programs we can develop to start helping our people become contributing factors in our communities. Imagine how many lives we can change for the better with that type of money. Get your heads out of the pile of money on your desk and go walk the streets of your cities and see the real issues for yourselves. Let’s not rely on one event to boost the economy. Let’s boost the economy from within by helping these lost souls and train them to be able to enter the workforce. That’ll help your precious GDP too.

Alberta is IN DEBT $48 BILLION ..
increasing at a rate of $344 per second,
increasing by $10.9 billion in 2018-19, without the games.
We don't need to go in the hole any further.
Parties when times are good is one thing,
but blowing money on gravy when the potatoes aren't paid off,
is a fools game. Today.. Alberta is $$ 48 BILLION in Debt.

remember the 76 Olympics we've just finished paying for the games that were impossible to lose money on!

That 700 million is badly needed in our struggling health care , and police services for our upcominmg maijuana multitude of new laws to enforce.
Also Oct 11-18 news that hordes of ISIS fighters want renentry to Canada, is going to require huge costs for extra security issues. Nobody in Calgary has said what secuity costs will be.
    Thank you. fred Jones
