I think more important would be a similar poll for MacBook Pros: "Would you be willing to accept a slightly thicker MBP with a return to the previous keyboards with decent travel and typing comfort?".
Other MBP poll questions:
"Should there be an option to have a keyboard with function/media keys rather than the Touchbar on the higher-end 15" MBP?"
2019 iPhones would be very ugly looking compared to the predecessors, because of the triple rear cameras in the back. But I would recommend the 2017 iPhones because it's more more better than 2018 and 2019. No comment baby, Hell Yeah.

To reduce the canera hump & may be a bit longer battery life though I think it’s still possible to improve the battery capacity in the existing frame. XS Max’s battery is quite OK for day to day use unless untill there is a extensive working hour rather than regular but importantly the camera protrude needs to be fixed. It’s doesn’t match the aesthetic sense of Apple.
Also may be in 2019 the layer if 3D touch would be removed from their design as like this year in the XR what will automatically increase the opportunity to solve the mentioned issues.

HELL YEA!! In exchange of No camera bumps, slightly higher capacity battery, 1mm thicker is no problem for me (or most of us).

The Phone is thinner the most flagships and will still be if its thicker.
David G - 6 years ago
1) We have changed to wireless charging - why is a cable even necessary other than a backup
2) camera bump disappears onces you put a case on it - so not a bother.
3) there are so many opportunities to charge the phone during the day (for desk / office / store employees. If you're in a job that is 100% outdoors without access to running vehicle which could have a charger, then just buy a battery case or portable battery charger.

I have yet to see someone who doesn't have a protective case on their iPhone anyway, some of which are huge. I don't see the point of slimming it down while losing functionality like battery capacity.
And like many others, I want my headphone jack back!!!!!! I'm not against Bluetooth headphones, but I have a car stereo that only accepts aux input, I have a computer at work that doesn't allow Bluetooth connections (so I'd have to have two sets of headphones, one for my computer, one for my phone), and I have $350 Bose headphones that aren't wireless.

Correction: Thinner is NOT better in my opinion
Jeff - 6 years ago
I have consistently wanted a phone with battery battery life since the iPhone 4s. Thinner is now better in my opinion. The assumption that everyone can use either wireless headphones (with their own battery life issues) or another !?*$@# dongle shows the marketing team clearly missed the mark. While USB-C may be nice, it’s not on my short list of wanted features. I’d rather have the ability to attach storage devices, etc for access to lots of data. That includes an OS with real file management features. My IPad can never replace my laptop until it can handle file management; my iPhone collection is equally crippled.

I’m fine with a thicker iPhone but I absolutely do not want a usbc iPhone the lightning port is far superior for multiple reasons
-built to let phones stand up vertically
-solid state (therefore no dust can get in it)
- has a chip so apple can maintain reliability
Dixie normus - 6 years ago
Phones from 2016 have been thin and light enough. If making something slightly different to accommodate better solutions, then please, move forward. Wireless headphones suck. Doesn't matter the quality, analog is always going to sound significantly better. As for USB c. Definitely go that route. 1 everyone with a premium phone these days would be able to swap chargers, and 2 isn't it ironic it charges faster than the "lightning" cable/charger? Battery has sucked and always will suck if apple continues their narcissistic business model
Kalina - 6 years ago
I don’t care much about the USB-C - give us the damn headphone jack back. Requiring more accessories cheapens the product. I’ve had every iPhone since the first gen, and I’m getting turned off from them with every “upgrade”. This is an Apple problem, too, not just limited to the iPhone.

Like many others, I don't think apple would ever make something that is compatible with other industry standards like USB-C on phones. They always try to take an existing technology and modify it a bit and re-brand as Apple to make a bunch of money. I don't think they really care for a customer's opinion but will force their stupid ingenious ideas on people. I have spent many hours with genius bar and they lack common sense. Spent hundreds of dollars to be on the apple ecosystem and just realizing how much money and effort I have wasted. I'm super happy with MacBooks but it just feels like their phone owns me than me owning it. Everytime I'm at Apple store to get phone issues resolved, the genius bar people act like they own me.

@John Walters Apple doesn’t do good with the thing known as UPGRADEABILITY. They neglect that it exists, I almost guarantee we won’t see anything with expandable/upgradeable anything for 5 years

I think they should also include a charger that is more than 5 watts cause they have upgraded the phone, why not the charger? (They should’ve included it in the iphone x, xs, xr)

Only enough to accommodate USB-C. Battery life is acceptable for me, and the camera bump doesn’t bother me.
John Walters - 6 years ago
Why not also offer a version of the Macbook pro in the same way. Thicker, with a better battery, upgradeable RAM and SSD and a GOD DAMN cooling system for that overclocking CPU.
Bobby - 6 years ago
Honestly I could care less, but I do think the bulging camera is actually a beautiful design of the iPhone. I don’t care about usb-c, to me that’s only for professional workstations, and I have no problem with the battery on my XS Max.
Tom - 6 years ago
That extra thickness will come with the extra weight. It’s that weight that’s the real deal breaker.
I’m not fussed on USB-C. Happy to ditch a physical port all together, but it must come with even-faster wireless charging and wireless headphones.
R Kahaby - 6 years ago
I would love more battery life, But that is the only "benefit" that ads anything to the functionality of the phone.
Substituting USB C for lightning and removing camera bumps have no value in the function of the phone.
Leo - 6 years ago
It should not be thicker, but get usb c and lose the camera bump. It got thicker every time since the iPhone 6
John Maldaner - 6 years ago
Make two branches on the iPhone tree. Continue to pursue a portless iPhone, a clean sheet of glass that will be the crowning achievement no one thought possible. And, create a phone for the unwashed masses, with a USB-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack. Both phones could be thicker to accommodate incredible batteries.
Michael - 6 years ago
Apple has pointed out to the smartphone industry, in which direction to move by introducing features and functionality that users actually want even before we knew we wanted it. Now, I can only wonder why requests for what we users want/ need the most has fallen on deaf ears. My devices are thin enough. I don’t need my iPhone to fit in an envelope. But if you want to blow my mind... let me use my device at normal screen brightness and active usage for a full day. Or two full days if I choose to use more conservative settings.
Robert - 6 years ago
Yes just to stop seeing these stupid polls every year.
Jay - 6 years ago
I would want it thicker to bring back the 3.5mm audio jack
Even for the sole purpose of removing the camera bump, yes, it should be made thicker. The other ideas listed would be an aux. benefit. I don’t know many “slabs of glass” that have a protrusion. Especially on the iPad, where it is frequently placed flat on a table for sketching, etc. I don’t understand it...
John Gruber at Daring Fireball has made a pretty good case for Apple sticking with Lightning for iPhones. But absolutely yes for a bigger battery! I have never understood the obsession with thinness.
I opined years ago that Apple should offer a ruggedized "Industrial iPad" that would be thicker and have kick-ass battery life and built-in protection against the hard knocks of use in the field.
Adrian Andrews - 6 years ago
The phone does not need to be thicker to accommodate USB-C it is already thicker that the iPad Pro which has it.
