Who ever came up with this stupid idea that this song is offencive I'd like to ask you a question have you ever listened to rap music or rock or heavy metal maybe you should I vote that we as listeners to these radio stations find other stations because they are offencive to classic songs that they have played on the radio for decades what's next

When I heard about the controversy about Baby It's Cold Outside, my chest tightened and I was almost in tears!

Judy Baker could not have said it better...…..

    "Judy Baker

If radio stations pulled every song that someone found offensive they would hardly have any music left to play. This whole thing has gotten way out of hand. It was a different time and you can’t compare today with yesterday. Yesterday is history and you can’t change history. History helps us learn from our past mistakes to make the changes today."

I am getting so tired of hearing people complaining about a song or a movie or something that they are offended by that was written or produced years ago! If you don't like it then don't listen or watch it!.

But radio stations continue to play rap music which constantly puts women down, talks about killing etc... Get over it! It’s a Xmas song.

I can't believe how far this political correctness has gone. Once again a VERY small minority of people have overruled the majority and more to the point, have convinced CBC and some others of how right they are and how over 95% of us are wrong. Why doesn't CBC get rid of the violence prone rap and other more odious songs? Grow up you trolls!! And then change the station.

  • JACK GRAVES - 5 years ago

Thoroughly disappointed that my stalwart, all inclusive, CBC would go along with this silly, acquiescence to a minority of puritans that have nothing else to do but create some news for themselves.

I listen to CBC every day and have done so for over 50 years, and always admired CBC for their understanding of what music the mainstream of Canadians like to hear...also, at the same time they have always acknowledged and catered to minorities....but this is insane.

Take a stand for us Canadians CBC, we love you, but don't forget we pay a good chunk of your bills!!

I can't believe that. I have never read anything into that song other than it is a Christmas song. How ridiculous that people pick into the simplest of things. You don't like it then change the station. What's next the classic Disney movies will be taken off of the shelf? Snow White and the Hunter who has to cut out her heart....?

  • Lynne - 5 years ago

RIDICULOUS!!!!! A small percentage is "offended" yet the majority is denied?????
Don't like it???? Then you have options. Change the channel!!!! Get over it!!!!

  • Connie - 5 years ago

I think it is crazy to take a song off the air ways that has been a favorite for so many years
.. If you don't like the song change the channel.

  • JILL WATTS - 5 years ago

I think we should stop listening to the radio stations that have opted out of playing the song, How could anything be so stupid. Oh gosh, darn, golly gee, oh no, I should be careful I might offend someone by saying the word "stupid." Its utterly unbelievable, first of all, that that could bother a person and second of all that people go along with it.
    Unbelievable!

  • D D - 5 years ago

My new favourite song. I will play it over and over again. I'll make sure to play this over and over again for years to come. Hang me for this.

  • Tom Haney - 5 years ago

What utter nonsense! What would they say about the song by Arthur Godfrey, titled "Slap her down again, Pa"? It's just music, folks. Almost all Christmas carols could offend non-Christians, who have the right to their own beliefs, and the right to turn the radio off.

I cannot believe that our media is reacting to a very few irrational people! Not only is this song decades old, listened to by millions (billions?) of people over the years without anyone taking exception to it, it has become a 'winter classic' that clearly states we are living in a winter country, and yes! "It is cold outside!" I am 68 years old and have heard many women call men 'baby' and vice versa without anyone taking offence. I take exception to and would support a movement that takes exception to, all the modern songs that murder the English languae, urge illegal and immoral behaviour and violence on our youth. These songs are aimed at and influencing developing minds that will become workers, voters, business people, elected officials, and legislators making decisions that will impact the whole country. I say "God help us all!"

  • Bill - 5 years ago

Change the station if you don’t like the song! Holy crap, of all the songs on the radio, this is the one that is offensive???? Really???

  • Julia Riahi - 5 years ago

This song has nothing to do with Christmas. Its just trying to make Christmas sexy I am so glad that this song is off the Christmas list of songs.

  • John - 5 years ago

Ridiculous! what's wrong with you people, its a Christmas song, Maybe we should do away with 95% of the songs played on the radio, they all have something in them that will offend someone. What are we becoming? people have nothing better to do than to start complaining, maybe, just maybe we should just let the artists do there thing. If these radio stations and music outlets give in to this nonsense, than we should as the masses listen to alternative stations, instead of giving it to a few wack jobs.

People really need to wake up and smell the roses. I don’t understand why everyone is so over sensitive about everything. It seems like no one is happy unless the are complaining about something or that they want to change something because it might offend someone. People that live like this just need to keep thoughts to themselves and try to be happy for what they have instead of causing unnecessary drama

  • marlene - 5 years ago

silly some woman needed attention in media to make media backlash that song was written in 1940,s
I'm sure like most songs no one listens to all the words 90 percent people just sang baby its cold outside the me movement should move forward and not backwards what she gonna do scan archives of music art poetry and only a woman can judge if its ok 100 year old songs like todays music is all ok? and radio stations are pulling it not cause song content but scared of media backlash and thats what its all about in this case....me movement should be we movement and I'm a 54 year old woman proud but sad that it seems like women are against men we need to work together forward not backward flinestones cartoon is next......

Ridiculous! I'm so tired of how Canada backs down from things like this!! I fail to understand how this song is questionable & had to be 'yanked' from the radio stations!
We've lost having Christmas concerts in our schools, people being told "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas"!!
We are CANADIAN!! THESE songs & traditions have been part of MY Christmases since I was a kid.
Yes, we are a diverse country, with many groups & individual beliefs & practices. Yet, as far as I'm concerned, certain groups, such as this one, go too far! Change the station if you don't like it!
Our government has given up on what it TRULY means to be Canadian! It seems that there's always something that gets changed because some particular group has been offended. Move somewhere else - NOT in Canada!
After all, no other country except Canada would change their laws or traditions if WE were offended! I'm sooooo tired of this!!

  • Devin - 5 years ago

Really... How can you side with the minority. (#Me Too) has gone too far. Our National Anthem has changed because of political correctness. I'm sure these idiots can find fault with any song.

  • Shannon - 5 years ago

Unbelievable how people can turn something so innocent into something dark and shady!! How many classic songs throughout the decades are going to be blacklisted before someone says “Enough is enough”? How many “rap” songs allude to gun and domestic violence? Yet no-one’s complaining? Please, stop the insanity!!

  • ted - 5 years ago

    "I can't get no Satisfaction"...Hey, hey ,hey!

  • Jean Stewart - 5 years ago

I've been listening to this song my whole life and never thought the lyrics were questionable until recently.
It's between a single man and a single woman both of the age of consent. There's a snow storm, why would she want to leave? Why would he want to walk her home? People need to grow up and stop trying foist their dirty minds on the rest of us! I heard this song on my radio yesterday so I'm hoping it isn't owned by companies that react to minorities.

  • Wayne WILKIE - 5 years ago

We have reached a new pinnacle of outright stupidity. It's high time that these snowflakes are told to simply shut the hell up! You know what? There's a little button on your radio. If you don't like what's playing, find something else or turn it off. I happen to like that song. Has nothing to do with the lyrics, I simply enjoy it. Funny, don't see these snowflakes demanding a revision of the bible! Oh right, that would upset the apple cart, bigtime.

  • Kaytee - 5 years ago

Hey, I get that some of the lyrics are questionable, but considering the lyrics of so, SO, many other popular songs, why pick on this one? Either they should all be allowed to play, or none of them. Would make for pretty quiet radio if all songs with questionable lyrics were pulled!

  • david chen - 5 years ago

congratulations, we have reached a new level of stupidity, well, only that 4%.

  • j car - 5 years ago

    ridiculous,
just another reason not to listen to local radio and download your own playlists.
