I wish the third choice were phrased: "Yes, and I think all fishing is inhumane."

Everytime a fish is caught the person fishing causes pain to a sentient being. Many people, including my husband, used to fish for "relaxation." To all people who think fishing is relaxing, I ask "How can you relax when you are causing pain and an unnatural early death to an animal who is a sentient being? Thankfully my husband now has a new consciousness toward this sport that is anything but relaxing for fish. He no longer fishes or eats fish or any other animal. Eating animals is not necessary for human health and so much nutrition data now show that a whole food, plant-based diet is the best diet for optimal long-term health. Let's stop all fishing and stop harming the animals that share this planet with us.

Studies have clearly demonstrated that fish feel pain. Fishing is a cruel "sport."
Scientific evidence has proven that fish have feelings, including, but not limited to, pain and suffering and fear. They also experience happiness and well-being, the same as humans and other land animals including birds. Fishing is traumatic for fish. They experience hooks in their sensitive mouths. They suffer wounds and brain damage in being caught and pulled from the element they need in order to breathe. When they appear to be squirming "meaninglessly" in the air, they are suffering asphyxiation, the same as we would feel if we were drowning. There is nothing kind or benign about fishing. It is not a "peaceful sport" at all. Fish-free is the way to be. Thank you for the opportunity to speak up for fish. Karen Davis
