The specter of a government shutdown over border security once again hangs over D.C. Should a wall be built to satisfy President Trump?
I wholeheartedly support the idea of a border wall, no matter how much it costs.
I agree we need good border security, but a wall is too expensive — $5 billion or more just to build, and countless millions more to maintain. Better to use that money helping reform our immigration system.
Let the government shut down to show our president he can't bully Congress — I think most Americans realize the futility of a physical wall. History will judge it was the right thing to do, if it comes down to it.
We need a compromise — build the wall, but make it easier to immigrate into our country. Immigration is the lifeblood of the U.S.A.
I'm still sitting here waiting to see how Mexico is going to pay for it.
