Shut down public transportation for one day and see how all those drivers of cars with a single rider scream about the traffic jam that's created.

Cars benefit from public transportation and there is nothing wrong with an added gas tax going to get cars off the road and benefiting the drivers on the roads

The proposal doesn't get far enough. Raise the tax, even more, to get more cars off the road and discourage driving cars. Make the roads safer for pedestrians, senior citizens, children,, handicapped and others who also use the roads.

why should I subsidize people who ride public transportation? They don't subsidize my paying for auto
insurance, auto repairs, vehicle stickers & licenses. If they want to ride, then let them pay their
    own way, not us.

Charge users for services they are using.
I'm SICK & TIRED of subsidies/handouts to lazy liberals.
GET a JOB, then buy a car or a bicycle you filthy BUMS!

I agree with the first 2 comments. 80 percent of the area does NOT use public transportation so we should not be taxed any more. The unfair RTA 6% tax is still gouging drivers after many years at the pump. Fares should be raised so users pay the price if they want to be hauled around. And low ridership lines should be disbanded and part time drivers used if not already to reduce labor costs.

People’s who don’t use the services shouldn’t have to suffer the tax increase

We can’t tax people who don’t use those services
