Is SMS as a channel 2FA's main security issue?
Yes, it's a known weak link, so implementing a different second authentication method would solve much of the problem.
No, because 2FA's issues have more to do with user phishing education than anything else.
Sort of -- any one-time password mechanism, be it email or text, can be compromised.
For now--the bad guys will always find a way to compromise the second factor, if it's widely used.
