    So should non-human nature have standing in the court of law? That is what this is getting at.. I say yes. A good place to start on the topic is a book written in the '70's by Chris D. Stone, titled 'Should Trees Have Standing". I believe a bird in Hawaii was granted standing in the state court. It was non-binding dictum though (non-precedent setting). I am no lawyer so don't quote me.
