Meaningless deals just meant to rattle the cages. Cogliano was the wakeup call and it worked for 2 periods against Detroit. The team has a multitude of problems, injuries, Poor, little to no production from the core players that have carried the team for years, contracts Bob Murray has given to those players that they weren't going to live up to, the defense being a shell of its past years in terms of defending and helping Gibson, the young players not stepping up and continuing their progressions towards taking up leadership and prominent roles and the cherry on top is not being able to score goals in a ridiculous year for goal scoring.
