I think G4 should've ended after Season 5, even though I think that Season 7 was the best. However, I don't think that the FiM universe should end.
When a franchise universe is doing exceptionally well, you don't abruptly end it if you really care for it. Instead, you start picking different events and areas on the same timeline. You breath fresh life into it while holding on to the same basic concepts. While I'm against a "next generation" story format, which would be horribly disastrous to the fanbase, we need to move up and out of Ponyville and beyond the Mane 6 and friends.
My 2 main idea preferences would be a new group of characters travelling around and outside Equestria in an adventure to spread Friendship far and wide. The other is to go back in time and explore the beginning of Equestria, following a young Princess Luna and Celestia growing up as Princesses. Have this show be aimed at a slightly older kid audience so it has the freedom to be the likes of Kim Possible, Gargoyles, Batman ATS, or the original Teen Titans, which were some of the best cartoons on the planet.
A separate show airing simultaneously could be a focus on the CMC in a CGI format to compete with the likes of other little kid Junior CGI shows like Sophia the First, Paw Patrol, and Dinosaur Train, and allow Hasbro to get into that market stronger. Meanwhile, the CMC show can have occasional guest appearances from our favorite G4 pony characters, bringing a sense of nostalgia for the adults who have their toddlers and little kids watching.

I agree that there should be another option, like more but not forever. The idea of 10 seasons sounds good for me, but for ever we all know it's simply not possible. As long as they keep doing good episodes (which in my opinion they still do), than can keep adding seasons, but when they feel they can't keep up with quality, they should end it, if it is the case now, so be it, but i wouldn't mind more pony :)

As sorry for to say the honest truth, I would have to say that the full franchise has to put to rest. Yes, Season 9 should leave it at that. I'm honestly NOT FOR this 'fandom', I only watch this show cause is "humans-free." (yeah, screw the human-race) And while 2013 expose the bad news of making a spin-off series for it (*cough* I'm takin' to you Equestria Girls), it ruins the whole meaning. And thus, while I assume people are going to be in their 30's! this upcoming millennia (and SO as I) I think they're off in their own pastors, and rather watch JUST the Pony G4 series all over again.
We will all be old and grey and still not plumbed the depth of fan-generated material.

I love G4. I really do. It's changed my life in a profound way...yet I don't want it to turn into another Simpsons. The Simpsons had 9 amazing seasons and then it started to suck. Since then it's become an unfunny, watered down mockery of itself. I don't want to see the heart go out of ponies like it did out of The Simpsons. I would rather give a fresh new iteration and new team of writers a chance to revitalize things than see the characters turn into shallow imitations of better characters.

Why not keep it going but let it evolve? Keep the same universe, but gradually introduce new characters while some of the older ones assume lesser roles?

Truthfully, I would love for them to continue it on forever as there is so much more story to be found if they draw from the world expansion and delve into deeper topics. However, if it does end, I am hoping for an ending that implies life continues on so that another program could pick up where they left off and continue it onward.

Honestly, i don't comprehend why Hasbro would create something as unexpectedly hitting as the mlp G4 universe only to throw it all away, in no way am i comparing fan bases but i remember shows such as avatar the last air bender and when everyone was hooked onto that franchise and then the legend of Korra came out and it bombed so badly that they weren't even playing new episodes that were suppose to air,
What i am getting at is if i was Hasbro i wouldn't ruin something as special and unique as the mlp G4 universe to jump to another generation when you already have endless possibility at your disposal, when your show literally has people going to different states to hold pretty much an entire holiday for your show i don't think you should ruin that so sudden when people are still buying your merchandise. I would let the show go on until at least season 15, and if the only problem is the question of "what comes next" get more writers or better yet even change the age status of the show and who your demographic is, look at what Samurai Jack and Ren and Stimpy did .

Well, I'm personally for more G4. This show has still so much potential and so many ideas could be pulled out of it. Equestria is a world of endless possibilities and there are still some important questions left. It would be a shame if it ended, especially before those questions will be answered. If season 9 will be handled well, how the real, epic finale of the series should be, I wouldn't mind that much the show is over. But I would really miss watching new episodes (yes, I'm addicted, so it's a really subjective matter to me).

I wish there was an "I don't care one way or the other" option. The only thing I had to choose was "Other".
There's still some writing inconsistencies that need to be solved for a proper ending for the series. I guess I'm going for one more season to show.

Unfortunately many things aren't eternal. Everything some time or other is about to come end.
We know our characters, particularly m6, very well, their personalities are greatly revealed. It means that there become less and less things to show in future. And probably we won't see something new what tell us about character and reveal some trais, like we've seen before.
It is really sad, but... It is just squeezed out all that could...
But, hope dies last. It would be painful to see if the setting of the familiar world will be razed. Now i'm about g5. Imho, it would be much better, if nothing changed, but same time appeared something else. Maybe, other Mane characters? Best thing what i could imagine is to make focus on princesses thousads years ago. And maybe far before. It would be interesting so explore ancient Equestria, and its rulers. To reveal how they lived, ruled, got aquainted with each other. And probably it would be cool to discover more about Elements of Harmony in those times. How it appeared? Who represented 6 elements thousands years ago before M6 which we know?

Yes. I want the Mane 6 getting the ending they deserve, instead of seeing them decaying and becoming living zombies in favor of new characters. The final season will have to focus on them, and I'm sure that writers will deliver it on that point of view.
Unfortunately, considering how anti-Mane 6 the fandom has become, they would even be disposed to see them becoming circus clowns in order to see the show going on with Starlight and good company. The Mane 6 are FiM, not Starlight or the Young 6. The show started with the Mane 6 and HAS to end with them, put that concept in that retarded brains of you, or just GTFO and find another show to watch. Idiots.
