AMLO has said it's up to Mexicans to decide whether to punish corruption by his predecessors. Should it not be done regardless of public opinion?

Law & Order! No other way. Remind people that in a democratic country, the “gold” standard is a necessary balance of power: It takes three branches of government: 1.A President, to lead under a Constitution, 2. A Body of Legislation and 3. A Court, responsible to apply the law. Hence, a president is not allowed to judge legal issues by himself. It would illegal.

To those saying that the question is ambiguous and thus the results will have no meaning: the results of the polls in this newspaper are meaningless anyway. Who in what government is interested in what a few gringos think about much of anything??
They are just cute "fun" polls

I agree with others, withdraw the question and reword it.

Hang em! It is a sin against the citizens of Mexico.

I don’t think the question is properly articulated.

I won't vote on a badly worded question

Indiscutiblemente castigo, la impunidad, más que la corrupción es la causa de la situación en la que nos encontramos!

shouldn't it be done - is probably what the question poser was trying to say.
So; shouldn't it be done regardless of public opinion?
    My answer is YES

Huh? This question doesn’t make sense. Should it “not” be done regardless of public opinion???

So, if public opinion goes strongly either way — for or against — it still should not be done no matter which way?

The way it’s written, we’re asked if corrupt officials should be brought to justice no mayter what the people say.

    Yes punisment for corruption

  • Nisa Deeves - 5 years ago

Yes, take the word “not” out of the question and it makes the wording easier to understand. Otherwise it’s too confusing! Yes, I think they should be held accountable according to the law, no matter what people think (although I imagine most want that, as well)!

I can't vote because of the way the question is worded. It is going to provide unusable results. Yes, of course they should be punished, and even more severely because they were in a position of public trust.

agreed on how the question is worded, but i did read it correctly, although had to read it twice to be sure!

That question was entirely ambiguous...I agree with the writer who thought perhaps "it was lost in translation." I voted NO but maybe I should have voted YES. WHAT I do strongly believe is that the Mexican people, and those of us gringos with permanent visas (ie the Green Card) .....need to vote in unison, and rid All sources of corruption: both at the upper level of government, down through the middle/municipal/police levels, to the lowest level of the major population: i.e. the common person on the street.....who is Not willing to put him/her self in the field of illegally tapped gas lines to be ultimately "burned and/or blown-up (the recent count being 91 deaths in the recent episode.) " I support AMLO in his decision to redirect the welfare of Mexico to better serve ALL of Mexican residents. After all, it really comes down to a basic Humanitarian reality.

The Q can too easily be misconstrued. Should the criminals be punished, regardless of public survey, or not. Keep in mind those surveys too are often worded poorly leading to meaningless conclusions, except perhaps to those writing the questions.

Two way system One for the poor and this one for the rich What is he waiting for For the money to be gone to the caiman islands

Well, corruption in Mexico is like in USA only even worse. As the old saying goes, a fish rots from the head down. I personally believe the witness in the NY trial saying that el Chapo paid USD 100,000,000 to Peña Nieto.

  • Rupert Chambers - 5 years ago

Poorly phrased. YES it should not be punished regardless of public opinion? NO, it should not be not punished regardless of public opinion? Your final may well be meaningless.

If they did the crime, let them serve the FULL time applicable!

I absolutely agree with Guillermina Gomez

Mine was the only No vote but I read the question incorrectly. Perhaps it is clearer in Spanish but in English it is open to my, incorrect, reading. No matter what Mexicans think now, past corruption should be punished under the law as it stands. Mexicans make the law democratically and it should be applied irrespective of current Mexican opinion.

    Your question is ambiguious
