Now that we've had time to digest and ponder, what are your thoughts on the Lincoln Memorial fiasco that happened Jan. 19?
The media made a non-story molehill into a mountain by publishing first and fact-checking second. This point is far more important a point than what happened between the Covington boys, the Black Hebrew Israelites, and a Native American elder.
It's clear the Black Hebrew Israelites instigated the conflict, although I think the Covington boys and the Native American elder did little to diffuse the situation.
The Covington boys were unjustly tried in the media — even if they were chanting "Build the wall," they didn't deserve the insults and racial hate they got from the Black Hebrew Israelites, nor the blame they received from liberals.
At this point, wearing a MAGA hat is less a political statement and more a sign supporting systematic racism and bigotry. The Black Hebrew Israelites were simply reacting to that.
I feel bad for Nathan Phillips, the Native elder. He saw a situation starting to get nasty and tried to avert it.
Seriously? We've got Trump in the White House and/or radical Democrats in Congress — we've got more important things to focus on than minor events like this.
