I voted for Tobi last fall like 80% of us that did vote. He was unique as a lawyer, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard and trilingual including German. So how is it he was more or less sidelined on city council. So what does it take to be successful on council? It will take one like myself who is analytical, capable of speaking truth to power, and holding senior managers accountable for their decisions. It will take somebody who has a thick skin to weather considerable political traffic and criticism.

The ward is diverse with great wealth in Rockcliffe and Lindenlea and borderline poverty in East Overbrook. This will require a unique set of skills and experience to represent each group well. If you want to be loved, you may have chosen the wrong political entry point.

I am happy to put my name forward and I favour Tobi’s policy statements. He wanted to slow down traffic, offer reduced transit fares to the economically challlenged, and most importantly hold senior officials to account for their decisions. I may be slightly more proactive in being opposed to the deposition of nuclear waste at Chalk River proximal to our drinking water supply. I would be more outspoken about developing more community housing.

If I could simplify my platform you could say that I want to support families and specifically look after the needs of children and animals, and those less able to look after themselves. Nobody should be without support in Canada’s national capital.

I urge voters to review my other policy statements on my blog, PeterKarwacki.blogspot.com

Hello everyone, today I decided to give my nomination to be the next Councillor of Rideau-Rockcliffe. I know that it is a huge step forward and a decision that will forever impact other future decisions I will undertake. But it is about time that the residents of this great Ward, get to experience what amazing kinds of individuals live in this community. I believe in the coming together of all people, because rather than focus on our differences I want to be that voice that will be the bridge maker and give the people a sense of belonging. Rideau-Rockcliffe for me is a place where we all come together, so join me in welcoming the challenges as possible opportunities and pushing the emblem to places we’ve never before thought possible.
    Rassemblons-nous, Come Together!
