  • Mirena Combs, Newport – She won a Kentucky High School Athletic Association singles championship Feb. 8 with a score of 220 after beating Emma Owens of Ballard, 220-213. She and Jon Cummins of Simon Kenton completed a Northern Kentucky sweep of 2019 state singles championships.
