Like with Children of Men, I think I'll save my tearful gnashing defenses of There Will Be Blood for the final few rounds when it'll actually need it.

Atonement is a very fine and lovely film. That's my eulogy for it here, and will be for any other film that goes up against THE decade-defining film.

This is exactly what I love and hate about madness. 2007 is my favorite movie year and is one of the all time greats with some very solid top films. I include both of these as great, acknowledging TWBB is probably better, but my heart is sticking with Atonement. Love their period feel and performances. The ending still floors me every time.

This was so cruel to Atonement. It has some of the most iconic imagery of any film ever (that green dress shot) including what is arguably the most powerful steadicam sequence ever seen (Dunkirk beach). Fantastic score. Wonderful performances. And you pit it up against what is probably the best film of the decade? I have to vote Atonement even though I have a slight preference for TWBB just because I don't want to see it go down without a fight.

I'm going to stand here defending Atonement by myself. I'm sure it'll go down considering the competition here but ive just never been a there will be blood fan!

TWBB is drinking this one all up!

I think I went with Atonement just out of spite for the fact that I've only ever seen TWBB on the small screen and I think it lost a lot of its power on a crap TV with crap sound. I need to rewatch it before madness 2019 is over!

I hate to go with the obvious choice for best film of the decade, but There Will Be Blood is my choice to win this whole thing.

There are a couple films that have the potential to upset TWBB on its way to a possible championship, but Adam’s darling ain’t it.

I have to say - it's going to hard for anything to beat "There Will Be Blood". It's the most riveting experience I had in a theater in the 2000s.
