Had to cram in a few movies (A.I. Artificial Intelligence, L'Enfant, Beau Travail, A New World, and Wendy & Lucy) over the past week just so I could vote in every match up...

I probably need to rewatch Zodiac—my review at the time held up the story, cinematography, and acting but only rated it 4* (with the desire to rewatch it, but not being able to set aside another 150+ minutes to do that).

Wendy & Lucy packed such an emotional punch and in only 80 minutes! Williams is amazing as always, so I may be throwing my vote away, but Wendy & Lucy has my vote as a 4.5* film over Zodiac. But now that I've seen everything that'll be in round 2, maybe I should set aside 2.5 hours to rewatch Zodiac to give it a fighting chance against either The Prestige (4.5*) or Hot Fuzz (5*) next week...

Zodiac is so meticulously crafted but also bursting with energy and passion. Give me Hurdy Gurdy Man and Brian Cox as Melvin Belli and do much more. It is the best film of the Aughts and the century, and Josh, please keep David Fincher’s name out of your mouth.

The only films that I might vote over Zodiac this whole torney are No Country or There Will Be Blood. In this weeks episode it was revealed that Josh didn’t even have Zodiac on his top 10 for 2007. That made me puke a bit.

This is unfair to poor Wendy and Lucy. Closer to an elite 8 matchup than a first rounder. Even though I voted Zodiac, Reichardt's film doesn't deserve a 95-5% thrashing.

Watched Wendy and Lucy recently and it's a nice film. Maybe nice isn't the right word to use to describe a film about the desperation of poverty, but you know, it's well-made with solid acting and what not. But Zodiac, I mean come on, this is my pick for best film of the decade. What an amazing year 2007 was.
