Have your delays at load/unload locations improved since the late 2017 compliance date for the ELD mandate?

Part of the problem with being held up at the receiver is that they have to unload your trailer then count every piece of the load. Why do we have to sit here and wait for this? We have nothing to do with this especially if there is a seal the shipper put on. I have been seeing 3 hours b4 detention starts and over 30 days to be paid for detention. Also they have other companies that unload your trailer and charge you for unloading what the receiver requested to be delivered. Also I was just told yesterday that if I complain to the lumper that they would purposely take longer. None of these things are fair. The shippers and receivers should be made to get their part of the shipping process done faster. We also have to wait during the loading/unload for them to take there breaks including their lunch. They shouldn't be able to do this either. And also alot of places hold you over and your clock runs out and they say you can't stay in their property. They should have to allow you to stay there for your 10 hour break and your vehicle inspection time. They should also have restrooms for drivers... Some have none. Some have port-a-potties. Some have none. Shippers and receivers as a majority just really don't give a crap about drivers. ELDs have nothing to do with detention. Sorry for rambling on.... Its just so frustrating.

The FMCSA AND DOT, FEDERAL DOT NEEDS TO GET AFTER THESE SHIPPERS AND RECIEVERS FOR DETAINING TRUCKERS. THEY NEED TO COME DOWN ON THE ONES CAUSING A BIG PART OF THE PROBLEM, AND LAY OFF THE TRUCKERS THAT ARE JUST OUT HERE TRYING TO BE PROFESSIONALS AND DO OUR JOBS.

Detention has definitely not gotten better! The ELD was never going to make it better! The only thing that will fix detention is if they regulate these shippers and receivers the way they do the trucks. They need to institute a nationwide detention rate of $25 for every 15 minutes we are held past the 2 hour mark! They cannot let these brokers negotiate whether or not the company has to pay detention! If they do, then obviously they will tell their customer "no", you will not have to pay detention so they can get that account! They need to start getting the people that are involved in the trucking business, involved in making the rules and regulations, and I do not mean the companies like Swift and JB Hunt! They need to involve the owner operators who are getting burned constantly because we cannot buy multiple trailers to have setting around all over the country for drop and hook work! It is about time the government pulls their head out of their butt and starts getting people involved that knows what is going on! The ELD only works for large companies and they know that. The large business is running this country with their lobbyist and payoffs! Everyone says we need to help the small business man out when they run for office but once they get there they become corrupt and sell to the highest bidder!

Not sure what the hell the ELD has to do with the time you spend waiting at a dock :(

Eld only works for big companies with more than 50 trucks not for owner operator it takes one weeek to do a 1000 mile load means that it takes two weeks to do 2 loads it only works for big corporations to make money on volume taking out th small carriers

I delivered to a place Monday on their check in window it said 1 to 59 minutes late no charge after 60 minutes late 250 dollars after 2 hours late 500 dollars pay by check. I had 7 am appointment I was on time check out at 12:30 pm asked about detention i was told they didn’t pay it how is this right. And also I know if I could have gotten something it wouldn’t have been 250 dollars and I would have to wait 30 to 60 days to see if they pay.

John, does that mean if your late you should pay a late fee? We get drivers in late everyday, we get driver 5 hours late and they will demand to get unload within a few mins. We have never held up a driver for over 30mins. But as soon as they know you will unload them as soon as they get there they take advantage of it. All we ask from drivers is make an appointment and if you will be late call us.

No they have have not gotten better, and they are actively trying to make it impossible to get paid. Everybody should get paid for their time. Brokers. Shippers, carriers will screw and nickel and dime the driver/owner op every time.

The people that do the work to make the difference if you're on time don't care. The other people that can change it don't care unless it cost money we need a set time.then the people that hold you up they pay the detention
